Now that "officially" the season for grilling has began (I don't see a reason why cold weather should prevent people from firing the grill up), which would you prefer to use, Gas grills, or Charcoal?

I would rather use charcoal, only because it has a much better taste.

Gas for sure... Turn it on and cook! No black hands, no lighter fluid, no long wait, and no clean up time. Again gas is great...

Weather? My mom-in-law lived in Detroit, and she's be using the gas grill in January!

Gas grills -- I am impatient to get things going.

If doing serious camping, then charcoal, but I don't do that much any more. Makes a darned good turkey in 1.5 hours though, if you know how. :)

There is not taste like a smoky steak, gas just doesn't do it for me. Sure, it takes ages to heat up, gets in your eyes and makes you look like a chimney sweep, but it's worth it! There is something special about lighting some charcoal and watching the flames, it always brings my family together, we sit there twiddling our thumbs making small talk about the weather and such, you can't buy times like that..... what was my point again?

charcoal, because its better for the environment (i think)

Not really. Gas burns cleaner. Charcoal puts out particulates and lighter fluid puts out fumes.

I much prefer the taste of foods cooked over charcoal. Although I typically BBQ using Gas just because I think it's easier.

I thought that all Texans were subject to the whims of Sweet Lady Propane? *grins and ducks*

I think most real barbeque chefs prefer charcoal or actual woods such as mesquite. When camping or on the road, though, I prefer the clean simplicity of a propane camp stove.

If your in a hurry to cook, why even bother using a gas grill? Charcoal for the taste, some things are worth the wait.... ;)
