Sometimes I go to the forum's chat room to talk and relax a bit without the usual pressure of the forums. Not saying pressure is necessarily a bad thing to feel on a debate forum; it's normal and expected on a forum of this kind anyway. It's just that I don't always want to participate in debates or staff work here.
... but then I see a clear-cut rule violation in the chat room, and guess what? I have to remind someone of the rules. After all, it's not okay when an admin lets rule violations go unchecked in his presence in a chat room that has to conform to the forum rules. Yet I sometimes still hate having to do that. Sometimes it feels awkward, among other things, to remind people of the rules in the middle of a conversation that you're participating in. It doesn't feel nice at all when such things happen when you just want to stay away from stress for a bit.
I'm not talking about any member or members in particular here, by the way. The above applies to any situation in which I have to remind people of the rules in the chat room. It's nothing personal; it's just a part of my job—a part that I don't always feel comfortable having to do. At times it feels like I have to avoid the chat room if I don't want to be forced to get involved in staff work, ironically, when avoiding staff work (and forum stress in general) is one of the reasons I sometimes go to the chat room in the first place.
Just... *sigh*
