Cherokee Prophecy

EnhancedSpirit

High Priestess
Excerpts from a talk at the 1986 Continental Indigenous Council, Fairbanks, Alaska By Lee Brown, Cherokee.

There was the cycle of the mineral, the rock. There was the cycle of the plant. And now we are in the cycle of the animal coming to the end of that and beginning the cycle of the human being. When we get into the cycle of the human being, the highest and greatest powers that we have will be released to us.

At the beginning of this cycle of time, long ago, the Great Spirit made an appearance and gathered the peoples of this earth together, and said to the human beings. “I’m going to send you to four directions and over time I’m going to change you to four colors. I’m going to give you some teachings, and you will call these the Original Teachings; when you come back together with each other, you will share these so that you can live and have peace on earth, and a great civilization will come about. During the cycle of time, I’m going to give each of you two stone tablets. When I give you those stone tablets, don’t cast them upon the ground. If any of the sisters and brothers cast their tablets on the ground, not only will human beings have a hard time, but almost the earth itself will die.”

And so He gave each of us a responsibility, and we call that the Guardianship. To the Indian people, the red people, He gave the Guardianship of the Earth. We are to learn during this cycle of time the teachings of the earth; the plants that grow from the earth; the foods that you can eat, and the herbs that heal. Then, when we came back together with the other sisters and brothers, we could share this knowledge with them. Something good was to happen on the earth.

To the South He gave the yellow race of people the Guardianship of the Wind. They were to learn about the sky and breathing and how to take that within ourselves for spiritual advancement. They were to share that with us at this time.

To the West He gave the black race of people the Guardianship of the Water. They were to learn the teachings of the water, which is the chief of the elements, being the most humble and the most powerful. The elders have told me that the black people would bring the teachings of the water.

To the North He gave the white race of people the Guardianship of the Fire. If you look at the center of many of the things they do, you will find the fire. They say a light bulb is the white man’s fire. If you look at the center of a car you will find a spark. If you look at the center of the airplane and the train you will find the fire. The fire consumes, and also moves. This is why it was the white sisters and brothers who began to move upon the face of the earth and reunite us as a human family.

And so a long time passed, and the Great Spirit gave each of the four races two stone tablets. Ours are kept at the Hopi Reservation in Arizona at Four Corners Area on Third Mesa. I talked to people from the black race, and their stone tablets are at the foot of Mount Kenya. They are kept by the Kukuyu Tribe. I was at an Indian spiritual gathering about 15 years ago. A medicine man from South Dakota put a beaded medicine wheel in the middle of the gathering. It had the four colors from the four directions; he asked the people, “Where is this from?” They said, “Probably Montana, or South Dakota, maybe Saskatchewan.” He said, “This is from Kenya.” It was beaded just like ours, with the same colors.

The stone tablets of the yellow race of people are kept by the Tibetans. If you went straight through the Hopi Reservation to the other side of the world, you would come out in Tibet. The Tibetan word for sun is the Hopi word for moon, and the Hopi word for sun is the Tibetan word for moon.

The guardians of the traditions of the people of Europe are the Swiss. Each of these four peoples happen to live in the mountains.

Each of the four races went to their directions and learned their teachings. We were given a sacred handshake to demonstrate, when we came back together as sisters and brothers, that we still remember the teachings.

credo quia absurdum
" They lived in peace not long ago, a mighty indian tribe
But the winds of change have made them realise that the promises were lies.
The whiteman's greed, in search of gold, made the nation bleed
They have lost their faith and now they had to learn there was no place to return,
Nowhere they could turn!

Cherokee, marching on the trail of Tears

They were driven hard across the plaines and walked for many moons
Cause the winds of change have made them realise that the promises were lies
So much to bare...and all that pain led them to dispare
They have lost their faith and now they had to learn there was no place to return,
Nowhere they could turn!

Cherokee, marching on the trail of Tears " -Cherokee by the band Europe

I just had to post these lyrics. This is a very beautiful song.

Even though most are gone, The Cherokee lives on!

Well,
That sounds all very 'nice' -"When we get into the cycle of the human being ?" - err, surely, there have been human beings around for quite a while; how long does it take to 'get there'?
The only thing I usually associate the Swiss with is cleanliness in their towns and cities, and an acute and very remunerative attitude towards money. If they are the 'guardians',
I'm surprised that a people generally motivated by the love of money (and hence possessions) should be 'the chosen ones'.

The 'secret' handshake bit worries me a bit - tones of Massonic connotations.

actually the Swiss were origianally motivated by a love of neutrality. The nation and the indiginus religion are not the same entity.

We get there when we wake up.

'secret' organiziations have always existed and they all have ways of identifying other members.
Many shamanistic orders are quite secretive, it takes a lot of work to become a member and their ceremonies and rituals are very private, personal and powerful. If they were open to just anyone they could be misused and botched.. with bad results.

It has nothing to do with masons or whatnot... :bonk:

The Swiss Alps are where the oldest foundings of the Celts have been made , or where the first recorded meeting kinda took place at lest . { they came down and kicked the Roman's butts } .

Even so , there are several things about the prophecy that bothers me , or I don't understand . But I'm not going there . :) Who am I to question another's Vision ?

However long it takes us to rise above our animal instincts. We are not "Human Beings " by their definition, but homosapiens, merely another animal on this planet. But we are to evolve into something different.

do you think the raindow warriors will be the perfect mixture of the knowledge of all 4 colors? i have read other prophecies of the rainbow warriors that will come to bring in the golden age
"when you come back together with each other, you will share these so that you can live and have peace on earth, and a great civilization will come about."

to me it sounds like when the messiah will return with his true followers and bring "heaven on earth", the great civilization, when we will evolve to a higher consciousness, true Hu-man beings.

except that there will be no "messiah", we will have to save ourselves.
We won't evolve to a higher place so much as remember what we had forgotten.
Humans arn't above animals. We are equils all brothers and sisters.

there is actually a lot more to this talk and it is from what I've seen a Baha'i religious plug. Making this more of a Baha'i prophecy than a native one. Also it is not only clamed to be Cherokee but also Hopi...

Hm. The Baha'i, much though I love them and think they are wonderful people, seem to collect prophecies from other faiths somewhat.

I do like the idea of different cultures each bringing something useful to the table... they also make a good point about Native Americans not being represented in the UN directly... that is a real injustice in my view...

I've seen the prophecy before. Heck, I've heard the prophecy before from Baha'is who are Native American.

We look to the prophecies and spiritual knowledge of all religions, not just the so-called "major" ones. There's no reason to leave out looking at the spiritual knowledge of everyone on this Hemisphere. That would be a waste.

I am in no position to verify the authenticity of this, or it's origins, but I would be interested to read what others have to say about whether the prophecy has any validity.

If you want to know why, pop in the Baha'i area. It would be off topic here for sure.

I agree. There are a number of indigenous peoples that are not represented in world affairs, and to the extent we can find a way to make that happen, I think humanity would benefit.

I'll do just that thanks :)

Absolutely. Part of me hopes this prophecy comes true, but overall the idea of a Third World War fills me with dread...

sorry Booko no disrespect to you and yours but this isn't one of ours. :D

From everything I've found out its not "authentic", I can't even find out what nation its supposed to be from.

It's been passed around a bit for at least 20 years, and unfortunately many people don't check things for authenticity. *sigh*

From everything I've found out its not "authentic", I can't even find out what nation its supposed to be from.
I heard Hopi years ago, but I've never ever found another reference in any of the print texts I've researched, so I haven't paid much attention to it myself and certainly not quoted it. The farthest back I've ever been able to trace it was Alaska, and that was from a *very* dubious source.

So if you say it's not authentic, somehow I wouldn't be surprised.

Hm...I know someone who's Lakota that would know, though. Well, actually I know his granddaughter that lives in town here. Next time we cross paths I'll have to ask. I'll probably get told it's nonsense, but even knowing that would be good, so the word can be passed around. Working with facts is preferable than wishful thinking, eh?

btw, technically I'm Huron, but honestly there are no connections left any more, so to claim the name just seems kinda...:biglaugh:
