Childs lunch forcibly taken away by school officials

Mathematician

Reason, and reason again
It's revolting, but it was one incident that was quickly remedied when brought to attention... what about something more important like the hundreds of thousands of examples where waiters get paid less than minimum age during slow hours? Or the number of people needlessly killed in right-to-work states?

I have a theory most of these "bash the schools" news are unnecessary outside of local news.

When do schools have a right to take away a child's lunch prepared by parents only to have it forcibly taken away from the child, thrown out, and parents charged a fee? When does the government have the right to dictate what foods can be eaten and what cannot? IMO this is disgusting.
Ok... so, they take away her food because it doesnt contain vegetables and therefor is unhealthy and then give her an alternative without vegetables... if you have to go around and take kids food like that, which I am not sure I agree with, then you should at least provide a better alternative .

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

Nuts.

So much for any isolated incident by which rules were misinterpreted. This school has some real issues, and I'm not talking about the kids there. I cant even imagine someone being paid tax dollars to browse methodically through kids lunchboxes, grabbing their food mom and/or dad made for them, and tossing their food out in exchange for institutional food and monetarily fine the parents for it with a good clean conscious.

For a number of kids, the home lunch is also an expression of love from their parents who took the time to make it exclusive and special for them. It's also a part of home.

Sheese.
