AI News Anchor Makes Debut In China

With today's technology, is this a foreshadow as to what to expect in the future , where Ai and artificial intelligence replaces real people ?

We see it already encroaching when we try to make phone calls, do our banking, buying fast food,. and now China introduces it into news media replacing the human element with rendered AI.

A foreboding message of things to come?

Or just a gimmick?

I know I have certainly been waiting for this. Then again, just how real IS Charlie Rose, eh?

The Chinese want to make sure that their fake news is read by a fake human so that there's no chance of a real human saying something real and upsetting their meta-stable stability.

I almost detected a micro-aggression in that. :)

Most people who try to keep close track of Artificial Intelligence and robotics are of the opinion these days that within the next 20 or so years AI and robots will replace so many workers that unemployment will come to rival that of the Great Depression.

For instance, over the past two decades American manufacturing has suffered a huge loss in jobs. Most people have been taught to blame that job loss on off-shoring to China and other places. The truth is, 85% of the lost jobs were replaced by robots.

Unless something changes, we are headed towards an interesting future in which a great number of people will need to find other means than jobs to survive.

Some countries are considering guaranteed minimum incomes for the masses who will be unemployed. Bill Gates has proposed that we tax robots to pay for such a thing. Other countries are making few if any plans at all. Should be quite interesting to see how it all pans out.

Heh. Plus who's going to investigate the background of a fake person?

At least it's more obvious how news is used to "brainwash" the listeners. Notice the robot says "as texts will be typed in my system uninterupted"
They even can use the voice to kind of hypnotise the people who are watching/listening. I see many opportunities for "Big Brother" here.

Well the $15 minimum wage hike is coming to fruition in New York. The McDonald's near me ripped out its interior and is installing kiosks for ordering.

I just got a flyer for their great grand reopening with free food and prizes givin out to the first hundred people.

Some will enjoy their wage increase, the rest will have to look for a new job.

I thought they already existed in Hollywood, the fake people I mean, not intelligence.
It certainly does look and feel like a Hollywood production.

Complete with epic musical scores, colorful backdrops, tons of noddies and outtakes spanning an array of expressions and gesturing....

Now I'm going to be looking at all the Talking Heads tm. and attempting to determine which one is CGI rendered and which ones are real.

And to think there are people out there who laugh at these things as being hyperbole.

I can see one of those things being Incorporated into the police department in about 10 to 50 years from now. The first RoboCop.

The gimmick is American-style celeb
newscasters who make his / her persona
a part of the news, and worse, how the news is
spun.

The advantage to a synthetic Asian human is that
it can be programmed to pronounce "L" properly.
