China has an irrational fear of a "black invasion" bringing drugs, crime and interracial marriage

Earlier this month in Beijing, amid the pomp of China’s annual rubber-stamp parliament meetings, a politician proudly shared with reporters his proposal on how to “solve the problem of the black population in Guangdong.” The latter province is widely known in China to have many African migrants.

On social media, the Chinese response has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many commenters echoing Pan’s fears. In a forum dedicated to discussions about black people in Guangdong on Baidu Tieba—an online community focused on internet search results—many participants agreed that China was facing a “black invasion.” One commenter called on Chinese people (link in Chinese) not to let “thousands of years of Chinese blood become polluted.”

There are upwards of 50 million Chinese living abroad and they are worried about 150k Africans living in a city of 14 million? It's truly is Irrational when you consider that they already have cities built which are completely empty and which can house upwards of 5 million each. They can literally afford to house 100 million people without having to build much additional infrastructure and could absorb 500 million immigrants and still be in the majority, but they're concerned about 150,000 people.

The irony is that the Chinese along with East Asians have the nerve to complain that they are victims of racism overseas when foreigners are treated like crap over there.

I would agree, although one doesn't justify the other. I wouldn't blame all Chinese for the racism of a few.

I suppose there is some irony in the fact that China and Russia, at one time, were very much against racism and often castigated the United States for our racist policies.

The Racial Question Is A Class Question

Chairman Mao Tse-tung received visitors from Africa here this afternoon [8 August 1963]. During the reception, Chairman Mao Tse-tung made a statement calling upon the people of the world to unite against racial discrimination by U.S. imperialism and support the American Negroes in their just struggle against racial discrimination.

Chairman Mao Tse-tung had a very cordial, friendly talk with the friends from Africa. During the talk, he condemned the racial discrimination practiced by U.S. imperialism, as well as that of the colonialist authorities of South Africa and in every part of the world. “Racial discrimination”, he said, “is found in Africa, in Asia, and in other parts of the world. The racial question is in essence a class question. Our unity is not one of race; it is the unity of comrades and friends. We should strengthen our unity and wage a common struggle against imperialism. colonialism, and the running dogs, to attain complete and thorough national independence and liberation.”

After explaining how China’s revolutionary struggle had won through to victory, Chairman Mao said: “This proves that a revolution by the people can triumph and that imperialism and its running dogs can be defeated. The tide of anti-imperialism and anti-colonialism is sweeping through all Africa. All countries whether or not they have already attained independence, will sooner or later win complete and thorough independence and liberation. All the Chinese people support you. The people of Africa are awakening with each passing day; so are the people of the whole world. The workers, peasants, revolutionary intellectuals and all other revolutionary people, who constitute over ninety per cent of the world’s population, can be united in the fight for the victory of the revolution.”

“In the fight for thorough emancipation,” Chairman Mao said, “the oppressed peoples rely first of all on their own strength and then, and only then, on international assistance. The people who have already won victory in their revolution should help those who are still struggling for liberation. This is our internationalist duty.”

True, but I think that had more to do with anti-Americanism than with really fighting racism. Even the Nazis criticized American racism from time to time.

Also, they pretended to support national liberation in Africa mainly because they wanted to install friendly regimes for access to resources. Exactly the same as the other European powers did.

On a sort of side note, a little-known fact is that if the Axis won WW2, the Germans and the Japanese were to split Africa with most of Africa going to Germany and most of East Africa going to Japan.

If you read the article it says that Chinese people are using fake marriages to get visas and continue illegal operations in Uganda. The Chinese are abusing the hospitality of the African people; Africa belongs to Africans, not to Chinese.

It's different. Chinese people in Africa are exploiting the native people and abusing their hospitality, and destroying the local culture.

African people in China and Asia are merely looking for a better life, one that due to xenophobia and colorism is being denied to African immigrants. Uganda has a population of only 30 million. Too much immigration can harm them irreversibly. China has a population of over 1 billion. The Chinese could accept another 600-700 million and still be in the majority.

Up to 40% of Africans living in China have tertiary education, including some with PhD's. By contrast only 10% of Chinese do. Africans could bring knowledge and prosperity to China if only they did not face racism.
