Christians for Obama??

Autodidact

Weddy: You know that hundreds of thousands of actual, post-born human beings have died in George Bush's stupid, unnecessary, counter-productive war in Iraq, right? And that John McCain supported that murderous decision, right? How on earth, as a Christian, could you vote for him? Also he's an admitted adulterer, and I thought your savior had something to say about that.

Oh yeah, Barack Obama opposed the war. Had he been President, there'd be several hundred thousand people alive today. Are you concerned about those victims, or only those who haven't been born?

You must be talking about the video of McCain singing "Bomb Bomb Iran" to the tune of The Beach Boys song, "Barbara Ann". While he was trying to lighten the mood and make a joke, I agree that he shouldn't have joked that way. As far as Iran goes, their leadership has been quoted as talking about the obliteration of Israel, and linked to funding terrorist organizations. So I can see where the joke came from.

Obama, however, is serious about abortions, redistributing the wealth, raising taxes, etc.

You have shown yourself to be utterly ignorant (or dishonest) about Senator Obama's positions. Maybe you should learn what they are (or how to tell the truth, as the case may be) before attacking them.

If he's not in opposition, then he's basically saying that yes, they are okay.
No. For example, I believe your religion is completely, utterly, and dangerously wrong, but I defend and support your right to practice it. See the distinction?

Yes, the green light to do what they think best, including not have an abortion if they think it's wrong.

You know what...if it's legal and someone feels justified murdering their unborn child...whatever.

I've reached the point where I just don't care anymore. I practice what I preach, in my personal life and that's all that matters to me. And I vote according to my conscience. If that makes me a beastie. Whatever. I don't care.

People are going to do whatever the hell they want to do, anyway.

How pitiful. You have no problem telling everyone else that they are wrong for not living their lives according to your religious beliefs, and yet you have no problem telling us that "I'll live my life as I see fit, and I don't care what the rest of you think".

What absolute hypocrisy. You expect us to live by your values, but you have no problem dismissing ours as completely worthless.

Ironic. Pathetic, but ironic.

I'm not here to debate abortions. I've already done that in the abortion thread. I really want to know how a born again Christian (with Jesus living in their heart) could vote for someone that believes abortion, partial birth abortion, and live birth abortions are okay.

VERY, VERY....easy....They showed up to the polls and cast the vote that truely mattered....

Don't we all act according to our own convictions?

I believe I'd be a hypocrite if a voted against what I believe in.

You've already pointed out that I'm stupid, I can't read and I'm pathetic. I've also been told that my religious views are dangerously wrong.

Respectfully, I feel as though you and others believe that my values are completely worthless too.

As a Christian, do you honestly care what other people think of your beliefs? I only care what God thinks about me. We're always going to be called stupid by people that are ignorant when it comes to the bible. Just let them say what they want and keep spreading God's word. We can't change people. Only God can.

What makes you think we're ignorant? I'll bet you frubals I know the Bible better than you do, and that you know less about atheism than I do. Disagreement does not equate to ignorance. And who called Dawn stupid?

I'm glad you've read the Bible. Satan can also quote Bible verses, however they're often quoted out of context.

I've read it from cover to cover and study it daily. I don't claim to know all there is to know, and I enjoy learning from other Christians. How much less I know about atheism than you isn't important. It doesn't affect me, it affects you. By the way, there are no atheists in hell.

I agree, though I suspect it's not for the same reasons as you. ;)

BTW - did you have a chance to look at what I asked you before?

When you "look at the candidate's agenda from a Christian standpoint", what do you actually do?

Is it like you have a checklist based on the Sermon on the Mount and count off the items that are included in the candidate's platform, or is there more to it than that?

You've already pointed out that I'm stupid,
No. You are the one that has used the word "stupid", to describe someone - not me.

I can't read
In your race toward online martyrdom, you seem to be incapable of understanding the written word. This accusation, in this post, is yet another example of that. Please go bac, and S-L-O-W-L-Y re-read my post. After you have digested it, we can talk.

and I'm pathetic.
Again, you misread the written word. "Pathetic" is applied to your position - not to you.
A quick note, dawny. Reading is more than seeing the letters and words on the page. It also encompasses the act of comprehending what the words mean. It is very conducive to reading a statement with an open mind as to what is being said, as opposed to entering into the conversation with the goal of being offended. Such actions can cloud your judgement, and cause you to miss what is actually being said.

Hang in there, big fella. It'll come to you.

I've also been told that my religious views are dangerously wrong.
No. Again, you miss the point. You are being told that forcing your religious views onto another segment of society is wrong.

Respectfully, I feel as though you and others believe that my values are completely worthless too.
I'm sure that you and I actually share some of our values. What we do not share is a vision that our values should be the basis for law in this country.

By the way, there are no atheists in hell.

:tsk::fight:

That is certainly not the view held by the words of the Bible. But it is nice to know that you have stepped outside of the groove laid out by the book and the leaders of the faith to think for yourself. Now, if I could just find some actual and factual evidence that a hell does indeed exist. Without that evidence, there is no way for me to know whether anyone, whether atheist or not, is going to end up there...

This is what is called moving the goal posts. You called us ignorant. You were mistaken. Feel free to apologize.

How would you know?
