Christians Preferred: Are only Literalists True Christians™?

halbhh

The wonder and awe of "all things".
As I mentioned, not all of the Scriptures need be literal. However, we should consider if the Biblical events in question, were referred to by other Scriptural personages, like Jesus, as being literal.

Don’t you think that would matter? How they viewed them?
Instantly then comes to mind an exceptionally helpful passage for showing just exactly that --

11Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, d and violent people have been raiding it. 13For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15Whoever has ears, let them hear.

16“To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

17“ ‘We played the pipe for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not mourn.’

18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

Interesting eh?

“When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water. Then the LORD delivered to me two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them were all the words which the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. And it came to pass, at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭9:9-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This account is an example of the supernatural power of God. Science and the natural man stumble and cannot comprehend this.

I'm not sure how much more literal you can get than literally cutting off body parts that cause sin?
How are you going to determine what God means whether what he said was literal or not? This is common error to see figures of speech, poetry, parables and then assume no Scripture is meant to be literal and can mean whatever you want.
As far as cutting off body parts that cause sin, people should know that sin is a heart problem, you can cut off all your parts and still sin, that’s why a person needs to be born again and receive a new heart.

I would give it the "Flat Earth" test for a start. The Bible only refers to the Earth as Flat in word and deed, and yet very very few believe in a Flat Earth. If you do not accept that the Earth is Flat then by the same standards you should not read other verses literally when science shows those verse to be wrong.

Hope you enjoyed the sunrise today and then the sunset later on today, don’t you like the sunset at the beach on a clear day?

Are you trying to fight literalism with literalism? People use to think for much longer than they believed the Earth to be flat that the sun actually went around the Earth. "Sunrise" was thought to occur because the Sun was moving up in its orbit around the Earth.

You had no real substantial reply to my post. Biblical scholars tend to agree that the Early Hebrews were Flat Earthers. That is not a slur since the science that proved the Earth to be a sphere was unknown to them.

I guess you didn’t get it

Read the Bible for a long time and never thought it taught flat earth. Then again I read it for myself without listening to other people and just the Holy Spirit, not saying that I haven’t been to Bible studies etc. But everyone is responsible to rightly interpret the Scriptures.

Sorry, I have no respect for apologist sites. They tend to be liars for Jesus. Please make your own arguments.

And ohmy GAWD!! Answers in Genesis? Are you kidding me? You might as well have admitted that you are wrong.

When it comes to scraping the bottom of the barrel it does not get much lower than AiG.
Lol and use a reputable source right, even though He is correct. Use a satanic site instead, or use a apostate who says he’s a scholar and false teacher, right brother?

That is because of your own personal prejudices. If you study the Bible, especially in the original Hebrew, the Flat Earth verses stick out. Understanding geometry helps as well.

For example there are at least two passages that refer to seeing the entire Earth by climbing a tall object to see "all of the Earth". That only works on a Flat Earth. On a spherical Earth climbing up only enables one to see a very very small percentage of the Earth.

If anything that is a "satanic site". Try to find an honest source. I know, they are few and far between when it comes to the Bible.

Biblical scholars that realize the Bible is myth are not "satanic". If you continue to refuse to learn how there is no question that parts of the Bible are at best morality tales I doubt if you will be able to find valid sources.

Plus, the subject has already been discussed and just a distraction.

Another falsehood that you say for
Example: “my own prejudice” really? You haven’t a clue. My testimony “confirmation bias” another, you have no idea. These are all comments based on what? You haven’t experienced or heard God for yourself so you don’t believe it possible?’ That’s my thoughts.
