Well speak for yourself. We don't cut down our Christmas trees in Australia. In fact the concept is quite foreign to us.
overspending, mostly on children’s toys and unnecessary things
Ever hear of a budget? Geez.
overspending on Christmas decorations
Meh, we only put up a wreath and some tinsel. Honestly I think we spend more on decorations for every single other holiday we celebrate. Religious or otherwise. Like you think Xmas is extravagant? Pah! You ain't seen extravagant until you've seen an Asian holiday. Now those ******** know how to spend exorbitant amounts of money on decorations.
overeating, over drinking
To be fair, anyone from a background including but not limited to Italian, Greek, Indian, Philippine, Lebanese etc could say the same on any random day they happen to catch a mum at home. No seriously. If you befriend a kindly mum in any one of those cultures, you're bound to have meals for weeks on end whenever you visit them. It's almost like their life goal is just to feed people. Lol!
And mate, I work in Retail so I had to work during Christmas trading. Those annoying autotuned Carols on repeat constantly are enough to drive even the saintliest of monks to develop a thirst!
overcrowded shopping malls followed with extensive anxiety attacks and exhaustion
Or you could just be organized and get your shopping done early. I know life is busy as f, but it can be done. Many people have achieved this.
Lol I went to two family shin digs yesterday. Had some Bundy (rum) and cokes, some Mojitos, some cocktails, a bottle of wine (it was weak before you brand me an alco) and some traditional Christmas Brandy. I still managed my all day shift today without hassle. Come on Gramps, it's not that bad surely.
