Chuck Schumer votes against a qualified nominee for justice because..."

We have heard from a far right source, how about how a leftwing source says:

Conservative writer selectively edits Chuck Schumer to accuse him of racism

"On Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) gave a brief speech where he criticized Senate Republicans for applying different rules to Trump judicial nominees than they applied to President Obama’s, chided Donald Trump for naming almost exclusively white judges, and announced that he would not vote for Marvin Quattlebaum, a newly confirmed district judge. It was the kind of routine speech that Senate leaders give every week. And it’s now fueling a massive right-wing hate fest against Schumer.

On Thursday, the Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro published a piece with the provocative title “RACISM IN ACTION: Schumer: I Won’t Vote For This Judge Because He’s White.” It’s not an honest piece or an even remotely accurate one, but boy did it pop in certain dark corners of the Internet! According to NewsWhip, a service that monitors news traffic across various media outlets, Shapiro’s claim that Schumer is the Real Racist™ was briefly the hottest story on the Internet.

Shapiro builds his piece around a selectively edited video. That video cuts off earlier parts of the speech, where Schumer notes that the only reason why Trump was able to nominate someone to fill this vacant seat is “because two Republican senators from South Carolina refused to return a blue slip for two judges nominated for the same vacancy by President Obama.” "

I find the argument distasteful, regardless of whether it was his main reasoning or just an addendum.

Further, if you argue that some group of people is not "diverse enough" you should have the fortitude to point out the ones you think shouldn't be there in favor a diversity candidate.

Turn about is fair play, eh Republicans? How's the taste of that pie when you have to eat it?

I am going to enjoy watching this.

Republicans decided they can follow different rules awhile ago, when their voters showed them they don't mind. What Mitch McConnell did to President Obama was unacceptable. I didn't see right-wingers saying much then. Now Schumer's a racist if he won't vote to confirm Lord Cheeto's pick?

I hope you Republicans remember that what you did to President Obama for 8 years set this precedent, and made it acceptable to disrespect the sitting president. Proud of yourselves? You made this normal.

Maybe you'll show some respect to the sitting Democrat next time. Or we can keep doing carnival barker Reality TV politics. Up to you guys...

Wait until Democrats sweep Congress this year. Things are going to turn really interesting then. Can you say obstructionism? Oh yes, it's coming. We're just doing what you guys showed us apparently works.

Or Donald could make the smartest move of his presidential career and start giving in to our demands...

Thank you for following a time honered tradition by showing the world that Democrats are the spitting mirror images of Republicans.

I'm enjoying this too. ;0)

Hmm, that link looks familiar:p

Perhaps if Shummer would prefer to deal in substance instead of sup he would get less flack?

Chuck Schumer votes against South Carolina federal judge nominee because he's white
from the article:

quote

Schumer’s speech is humorous considering he is the minority leader of a governing body that is overwhelmingly white and male. There are currently only 22 female senators, 17 Democratic and five Republican. We started this year with only 21, but Sen. Al Franken’s exit opened the door for Minnesota’s former lieutenant governor, Tina Smith, to take his seat.

There are also only three black senators out of 100, according to the Senate webpage.

It's extremely unlikely Schumer, himself a white male, will step aside anytime soon to balance out the mix.

@Subduction Zone beat me to it by a couple of minutes. I hope no one new is taken in by the fake news brigade.

There was no need to edit your post. You had a perfectly good comment about Fox News that I did not have. I am beaten in the same way by Polymath far too often when it comes to matters of science. But you appear to be right, there are not too many of our Trump supporters that seem to have bitten on that particularly rank story.

ETA: Oops, spoke too soon, as I see by someone that bit into that story as I was writing my post.

Not quite the same thing, but close.

Wait until Democrats sweep Congress this year.
When the Republicans had this attitude when it came to Obama, they lost because they didn't try hard enough. When it came to Congress, they did quite well as they had a huge movement going on called the Tea Party. Now, of course Republicans love to chastise "jobless lazy bums" Democratic protestors (but yet it's apparently not an issue when Republicans do it), but without such a movement and momentum they won't have as easy of a time as Democrats want to believe they win.

Judge Judy taught me that if something doesn't make sense it's probably not true. Additionally, if a certain 'story' is only covered in RW medialand then you should be highly suspect and start researching the story for context/facts.

Ben Shapiro, a RW performance artist, gotcha! Got millions more too! Wake up America
