Church asks city to ban baggy pants, gold teeth

Druidus--

I agree in principle that people should not be judged by how they dress. I've had plenty of friends who dressed in the "goth" style, and they were not anti-social or criminal at all (though that was clearly the impression that they were trying to give). However, if I were to find myself in a bad area of town and needing directions, I would choose not to stop and ask those nice young gentlemen wearing "thuggish" clothes. They could be the nicest people in the world, but how am I supposed to know that? I think that prejudice can be a real asset in certain situations, especially when it is an accurate prejudice.

Scuba Pete

Le plongeur avec attitude...
Another funny note... Wednesday I found myself flown to Atlanta to meet with some executives about a possible scuba diving show. I was SOOOOO out of place in my blue ScubaBoard short sleeve shirt and khaki pants while everyone around me was in three piece suits. Jest call me "Rube".

During the meeting, the discussion went at a blazing speed, I could barely keep pace and was smart enough to not try to butt in. Then came the words: "What do you think, Pete". At once, they all shut up and looked at me. Needless to say, I broke out in a cold, cold sweat and proceeded to tell them the truth. But these guys seem to be hanging on my every word. I finally figured it out: I was the "everyman". The guy they were trying to get in touch with and have seen to lost. There I was feeling small and insignifigant and yet the discussion centered around me. Wow.

There is something to be said for not conforming. :D

Those guys with the baggy pants? They hold our future in their hands. We had best shut up and listen to every word.

Well, they don't hold our future with both hands, really....they need the other hand to keep their pants from falling down. :D

I hate baggy pants, but I don't think they should be banned. I counted change and bought a belt when I started losing weight because I can't stand wearing baggy pants.

But if that church saw me when Im dressed in my favorite attire, they would think a bit more than thug. That is because my favorite attire is solid black t-shirt (it used to be tight to show muscle, but it was quickly replaced with a lose one after I tore my ACL and I lost muscle and gained wieght), solid black non-faded denim jeans, black sunglasses, and my black leather trench coat. It was really cool when I still had long, black (dyed) hair. I drew alot of attention to myself, with people thinking I am probably going to kill someone.
