No it is not normally allowed. Lol..... Your second question is funny. Two questions:
1. What is so special about their having been married- is that normally not allowed?
2. Why is one all decked out and the other looks like she's looking for her sheep?
Historically, Christian bishops are to be unmarried and male. The Catholic and Orthodox Churches do not accept Anglican or Episcopalian ordination as valid because of that and for other reasons. Two questions:
1. What is so special about their having been married- is that normally not allowed?
LOL!2. Why is one all decked out and the other looks like she's looking for her sheep?
If their not allowed to do it, then can't they lose their jobs? I mean, I'm not fully versed in Church hierarchy but isn't a bishop higher than a regular ol' priest? No it is not normally allowed. Lol..... Your second question is funny.
I'm guessing the Church of England is either Anglican or Episcopalian? So then this isn't really news for them?Historically, Christian bishops are to be unmarried and male. Yes, Anglican. Episcopalian is what the Anglican church in America is called.I'm guessing the Church of England is either Anglican or Episcopalian? So then this isn't really news for them?
Yes it is. Clergy have long been able to marry in the Church of England. After all, this couple we're already married and were both clergy. The only change is that the woman has been "promoted" to be a bishop. No it is not normally allowed.
I don't see how it in itself makes the slightest bit of difference to anyone. It's the consequence of things people might object to (female bishops, clergy marrying etc.) but how is the fact of two bishops being married to each other specifically an issue? It seems rather silly and like a bad idea in general.
Anglican is Latin for "Church of England" (essentially).I'm guessing the Church of England is either Anglican or Episcopalian? So then this isn't really news for them?

No, it's not really news that we don't accept them. Their heretical liberalism and modernism has led to schism within the Anglican communion and some of the conservative Anglican congregations have switched allegiance to Rome. Also, the Anglican communion outside of Europe and the US tends not to be very happy with their liberalism, especially the African congregations.

The picture on the article isn't of the married couple, it's of a different (the first) woman bishop and an arch-bishop (hence the different clothing). My second question wasn't mean to be a joke! I thought they are both bishops. Why aren't they both wearing bishop clothes?
Ohh. Well that's a little misleading. The picture on the article isn't of the married couple, it's of a different (the first) woman bishop and an arch-bishop (hence the different clothing).
Yeah, it really is. A lot of the comments on the article are saying that, too.Ohh. Well that's a little misleading.
That's very much a matter of opinion it seems. If holy scriptures made things clear, there probably wouldn't be a Church of England in the first place.Exactly! No woman should be able to be teaching to the congregation. No woman should ever have authority. The holy scriptures makes this very clear.
