Church plans on burning Korans this Saturday, 9/11/10

Burning books of any kind, especially religious books is very disrespectful. It takes a small, fearful, egoic driven mind to do something like this. All they want is their 15 minutes of fame. If we ignor them, their point is lost and they have failed.

How quickly states' and local rights disappear when they're no longer expedient!
They disappear when they conflict with the constitution.

How quickly citizens rights disappear when their rights bother people! ;)

You know, if this wasn't put on the news, and people everywhere weren't discussing this like we are now, this wouldn't even be an issue. People burn stuff all the time- crosses, flags, even the constitution itself. Who cares? I see anchors in the news sitting there talking about how images of this will be on the internet and will get all over the world and anger Muslims and endanger our troops, but who do they think are putting it there? If this was left alone, and nobody cared, including the media, then this little backwoods church could burn the Qur'an and nobody would know about it besides the people that go to their dinky little no-name website.

People have already burned Qur'ans in America. Heck, I just went to youtube and found a video of a guy burning the American flag, the US Constitution, a Bible, and a Qur'an, and he did so to point out how casual it is, and how it's a right we have. I don't see him all over the news.

Just found on Wiki that money burning is illegal in the US.

Seems a bit mad. If the pastor wanted to burn $1 the Federal government could stop him. He wants to burn a pile of books that will purposely insult millions and is free to do so because that's 'freedom of speech'.
Daft.

I assume you're of the opinion that feelings supersede freedom?

I'm of the opinion that it's daft that one moronic pastor of a tiny church in the arse end of nowehere can potentilly cause the trouble this guy is lining up to cause.

Yeah, it is rather silly that people would allow the wacky shenanigans of some witless hick to upset them so. However we can't go through life making concessions and compromises out of fear of knee-jerk reactions from frothing savages.

Done here.
IMO this is nothing short of hate speech and should not be protected by law.
Nevertheless, hate speech is protected by law, and by the Constitution, too. While I have absolutely no sympathy with what this mouth-breathing moron and his flock of boneheads intend to do, I fully support their right to do it.

Very simply, if I were the president, I would issue an executive order to forbid this Koran-burning from taking place.
If you were the president you would have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, and I would hope you'd have the presence of mind to keep your vow.

This act will solve nothing and only stir up more anger, something which our society and our world has way too much of anyway.
Undoubtedly.

Not only that, these radical Christians are threatening national security. These sorts of incidents are exactly what fuel radical terrorists, because they can use this hatred of them to fuel their hatred of us. Seriously, what do our idiots not get about this.
Seriously, I can't quite see my way clear to blame one group of fundamentalist idiots for the violence of another group of fundamentalist idiots, even if the former has been insulting to the latter.

So in other words, you'll use violence. Good to know.

Lol! Whether you like it or not, sometimes violence is a form of Justice and depending on the circumstances is quite necessary. When it comes to the preservation of my rights as an individual, if necessary, yes I would most definetely use violence, just as I would use violence to protect the life and well being of a loved one if I had to. It's simply the way of the Satanic warrior.

"If one smites you on the cheek, smash them on the other!" :bat: However, there have been times when I have forgiven, but I never forget.

Xeper.

Right now I hold the press just as responsible for any untoward reactions by Muslims as I do Jones. Not a whole lot, but equally so nonetheless.
