Click Anxiety (Formal Announcement)

Tuesday, October 8, 2024, was the day I made my formal announcement of acceptance. It can be a difficult thing for a man to let go. For 36 years, I've been active in how this nation operates. My first real act of participation (on a national level) was in support of Al Gore, 1990's era. I've witnessed presidents come and go for as long as I've been alive. From Nixon to Biden, that would be ten presidents since my introduction to this world, and we have yet another election underway.

My formal announcement amounts to me sitting this one out, and to do the same for every other as we move forward as a nation. It's not so much a retirement decision, as it is a willingness to allow others to take the driver's seat, namely our kids. It is their future, after all, and well ... we could have done better.

It is the law to buckle up in my state, so I'll do just that in the coming years. My roller coaster ride is just beginning as our kids are gearing up to take the wheel of national politics.

Kids, if you remember nothing else of my contributions to the world, remember this one thing:

"My life is in your hands, my kid's life is in your hands, and my grandkids lives will be in your hands, and so will your own."

Let's get this show on the road, shall we?

Btw, try not to forget "Emma Lazarus" and her contribution to our world.

Standing by as an observer and passenger with an opinion, I have witnessed apparent concern that individual states could implement a new era of slavery and slave labor, if given the authority to self-govern as states. As a republican, I find this a fictitious and misleading fear tactic aimed to impress that fear upon a more gullible voter base.

Yes, I said it. I was on the blue team in the beginning. I still am, only I stand on the red side of our political ideologies, nowadays. I prefer smaller government and greater state authority to self-govern, per state needs as they pertain to those who reside in them. This would inevitably help empower the people of each state to decide as a State what is and what isn't best for them as a general assembly or community.

Breaking Eden

I guess maybe I've fallen

Yes, baby I've fallen

My hearts been breaking

I guess maybe I'm calling

Yes, baby I'm calling

Yeah, my hearts been breaking

I can't take anymore

I can't break anymore

My whole worlds on fire

and I keep breathing in

and I keep breathing out

and I can't take the way you break me.

I'm not standing on my own

I've been alone

and I can't take anymore

I can't break anymore

My whole world's on fire

So, baby I'm calling

I guess maybe I'm calling

because my hearts been breaking,

and it hurts me, baby.

Truth is, I won't be rolling a fat doobie. I'll be exercising my 2nd amendment right and joining everyone else called to service.

I just found out that some people have no sense of humor.

I've learned to smile and laugh over the years even in times of trial and difficulty. I've learned that doing so upsets some types of people.

Yup.

I have to watch my humor for that, too.

Elevator music for your waiting pleasure

Ouch. All I hear here is beat, growling, and guitar effects (fuzz) - not melody, chord progression, or meaningful lyrics.

Here's what my generation's music sounds like with lyrics included, since the vocals were recorded too low:

Once I lived the life of a millionaire
Spent all my money, I just did not care
Took all my friends out for good time
Bought bootleg whiskey, champagne and wine

Then I began to fall so low
Lost all my good friends, I had nowhere to go
If I get my hands on a dollar again
I'm gonna hang on to it 'til that eagle grins

No, no, nobody knows you
When you're down and out
In your pocket, not one penny
And as for good friends, you don't have any

When you finally get back on your feet again
Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend
Said it seems mighty strange, without a doubt
Nobody knows you when you're down and out

[instrumental break]

When you finally get back on your feet again
Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend
Said it seems mighty strange, without a doubt
Nobody knows you
No, nobody knows you
Nobody knows you when you're down and out

("Slow sleazy blues. That's gotta change your mind")

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I love that last song! It reminds me of this one:

I like cream in my coffee
And I like to sleep late on Sunday
And nobody knows me like my baby

And I like eggs over easy
With flour tortillas
And nobody knows me like my baby

And nobody holds me
And nobody knows me
Nobody knows me like my baby

But it was a dream made to order
South of the border
And nobody knows me like my baby

And she cried man how could you do it
And I swore that there weren't nothing to it
But nobody knows me like my baby

And nobody holds me
And nobody knows me
Nobody knows me like my baby

And I like cream in my coffee
And I hate to be alone on Sunday
And nobody knows me like my baby

Did you ever see him live? We did, August 30, 1997 at Humphrey's on Shelter Island in SoCal. His physical presence is Dylanesque - smallish, frail, a little funny looking, and tilted:

Do you remember who his famous wife was (how did a guy like that land a gal like her?)?

Nice lyric ... I like Clapton. I prefer the sound of Gojira at the moment. It must be the angst in me. They did part of the opening ceremony in France at the Olympics. Les Misérables on to the music and accompanied by a nice soothing classical type solo. The last supper theatric was controversial, but the music was amazing.

This one has long been among my favorites. The angst obvious and the message not far from where a lot of people are.
