I believe in global warming, and I believe it will continue to be much worse than it is now. Nothing man can do will change what is happening. I believe it is part of God’s retribution, and God will not allow man to do anything to stop God’s punishment.

What if you're wrong, and your God wants us to try to repair the beautiful planet he gave us?

Now this will very soon be "REAL" climate change==The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. 9Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.… Revel;ation 16:8

So, you are saying that we should also be investing a new sunblock products?

Between Johnlove and GISMYS16, I'm tempted to just give up, throw in the towel, call it quits.

But wait! Where would that leave my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so on... ?

Nah, just in case that dusty old bible isn't actually true, I think I'll keep doing my part to save the planet.

What? Me worry?

So...how much has the globe warmed up in, say, the last 15 years? Or 10 years?

I more measurable and important question might be: "How much of Greenland and the Arctic Ocean has melted in the last 10 or 15 years?"

I'm sure you understand that Iceland, the rest of Scandinavia, and northern Europe all depend on a warm gulf stream to remain habitable, right?

Prove it ( and quit evading my question).

Show bonafide, irrefutable scientific evidence that any of this alleged destruction was attributed directly to any catastrophic climate change or global warming. Cite the scientist(s) that have gone on record to show this proof. My first question still stands: How much did, or has, the globe heated up during or because of this "global warming" nonsense?

Just for sake of discussion... let's say that the effects we're seeing have nothing to do with previous actions of men. Given the predictions of the best climate models, shouldn't we do something to save our habitable areas anyway? Even if (hypothetically), we're not to blame?

As for your "proof", the climate is an extremely complex mechanism. But something like 96% of scientists believe that the evidence is compelling enough that they believe that human activities are a factor in climate change. There are many aspects in our lives for which we behave based on strong evidence, even if we don't have proof.

BSM1 - why risk sitting on your thumbs? The worst that could happen is that we'll get off fossil fuels sooner. Seems like virtually no downside, and huge - perhaps even "survival of the species" upside.

Read the articles for yourself. Learn how to Google for more. It is not other people's responsibility to educate you after you become an adult unless you go to college. Purposely not learning something for yourself just to maintain plausible deniability is called willful ignorance. The information is out there. In abundance. Read for crying out loud.

it's two weeks before Christmas.
when I was a boy there would have been snow on the ground and a white Christmas almost a sure thing.
that was fifty years ago

today it's 60degrees outside.

At least in my province of British Columbia, Cana-duh... we have had a Carbon Tax for quite a few years.... and I think most people here, deniers included, are good with that.
I've heard of that practice.
taxing people for the dirty carbon they can't help but use.

oh! what a mess I'm making!.....then they take my money
and pretend they are doing something about the mess....

My sense is that alternative energy is still more expensive. That said, in the US at least, we continue to pay ENORMOUS subsidies to oil corporations, while our R&D investments in alternate energy sources are tiny by comparison.

Alternative energy is more expensive because it isn't very widespread. If it was more widespread then it would be cheaper.

It's not 'wait till it gets cheaper to switch', but 'switch in order to make it cheaper'.

The worst that could happen is that we'll get off fossil fuels sooner. Seems like virtually no downside, and huge - perhaps even "survival of the species" upside.

This is precisely why I don't get the 'what's the definitive proof' arguments.

With the potential downside being 'end of life as we know it', even a 1% chance of global warming being man-made warrants serious action to prevent it.

Its funny how delusional the Green Movement is.
China to double and India to triple their CO2 output by 2030.
We're fools.

It's not the green movement that is hailing it, it is politicians who are hailing themselves (no surprise there).

The highest praise it could be given is the deal is 'about as good as anyone could reasonably expect'.

Better than nothing, but not going to fix anything.
