Clinton Opens Up 12 point Lead Over Trump in Bloomberg National Poll

A new Bloomberg Politics national poll shows Clinton leading Trump 49 percent to 37 percent among likely voters in November's election, with 55 percent of those polled saying they could never vote for the real-estate developer and TV personality.

[Source]

Among other things, it appears that Trump's racist remarks about Judge Curiel have reduced his popularity.

Of course a poll this far out from the election should not be taken as an indication of who will win in November, but it should put to rest the notion that Clinton can't decisively beat Trump.

Please discuss.

No real surprise here. Now that Trump is outside of his "safe zone" and is facing a hostile general voting populace, I think he and his following will experience a bit of a rude wake up call.

And yet this is still the first election where both candidates unfavorability rating is higher than their favorability rating

Hurrah! Something vaguely resembling good news! How did that happen? a glitch in the matrix?

Let's get drunk! Last one under the table is Trumps running mate! :D

Yea and what does that tell us?

It's rigged and quality candidates are just not needed anymore to win elections.

Whomever wins the election, it's little doubt will be the perfect person this nation so rightly deserves, with everything that is coming to them as a well earned consequence.

We can all wallow in the slop, no matter who wins from this point on.

Damm..... The voting machines just don't seem to be working right again.......

Then more people need to vote to change it.

A good place to start would be to stop voting for the incumbents, next stop voting "only" along party line like many do.

But I will admit, I have little faith in the American people to do much that could be considered independent thought in a political arena. So far it appears they are much more comfortable with doing what they are told based on party affiliation

This is one of my biggest criticisms of the voting population. Nailed it!

And a good reason to simply roll ones eyes at polls like this. They mean nothing. I'm aware of two elections in my own area where a party was unanimously held to be the obvious winner of the upcoming elections. The polls consistently reflected this... and yet in both cases the polls were wrong and that left the pollster trying to wipe the egg of their faces for quite some time after the elections.

You know what we need? Do you remember during one of the World Cups where they had an octopus (I think?) and depending on which box it sat on, determined the winner of the match? If I remember correctly, he had a really high accuracy rating. We need to contract these polls out to the octopus.

I'd LOVE to vote based on what I believe in rather than based on arbitrary party affiliation. But because I live in California, that is decidedly quite difficult.

Why?

And I am asking because I have no idea what it is like in California as it applies to politics

Nah, it just means the country is so divided that the 40% on the right despise everyone on the left, the 40% on the left despise anyone on the right, and the 20% in the middle hate them all.

Well, polls are polls. But I'm not surprised. The closer we get to the election, the more people will be willing to answer phone polls and the like, apart from the crazed wingnut types who have passionate opinions from the get-go. It just happens that the Democrats selected their centrist, and the Republicans picked their radical. The standard logic of the general election will still apply, I think, and Trump's disdain for "looking presidential" will continue to hurt him until someone finally manages to talk him out of it.

For a while, it was actually impossible to vote for any canditate who wasn't in the party you sign up with. It's not quite that restrictive anymore, but I had to re-register as No Party Preference so I could vote for Bernie, and even then I had to actually request a presidential ballot at the polls. They wouldn't give me one by default.

Remember during the primaries how much Donald talked about the polls. He talked about the polls more than the talked about the wall. Now he can't talk about the polls. Interesting.

He doesn't want to talk about the polls. He only wants to talk about winners. He hates to talk about losers. Losers are very not interesting to him.

I am still worried. A tiny 12 percent lead is sign of deep trouble. By rights Trump should not have been a contender at least for a few months now.
