Imagine my surprise on arrival in America when
I realized I speak better Englich than the natives do.

This reminds me that lately I showed some of my students how a lot of Americans actually speak. I wrote an example phrase on the board that ended with ‘you ain’t nothing.’ In reaction, my students said things such as ‘What?’ and ‘Huh?’ One of them pointed out that it should be ‘you aren’t anything.’

Though I still turn up my nose when people go out in their underwear...(that seems to be happening more and more).

Good gosh! You mean… people are actually going out without wearing any trousers, shorts, skirts, or dresses?

Yes. I've shopped in a store with a man using boxers as 'shorts', and its become common for women to wear bras as shirts(and not always sports bras). Some businesses ask them to leave, and then there's a fuss.

I saw an adult woman in the neighborhood run outside to talk to someone in bra and panties. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I didn't care for that. I understand sometimes clothing rips or slips, but some don't even attempt...
