No. Especially if you have a teacher who is like one of mine this semester. He is such a big nerd that if you even joked about that he might fail you. A rude remark about Star Wars might do the same, but he is very much indeed a Trekkie, so don't tread on that. And not too mention he is extremely intelligent so you could be in for a very long explanation on why you should not have done such a sinful act, that will cover grounds and areas that you had no idea that where even being considered or existed.

I'd fail someone who said that Darian Rucker was a country singer.

OR if they bad mouthed Willie.

Example bullets:

Concentrate on your opening paragraph

• The lead or opening paragraph is generally the most important. It is here that you grab the reader's attention or lose it. This paragraph becomes the framework for the rest of the statement.

Don't include some subjects

• There are certain things best left out of personal statements. For example, references to experiences or accomplishments in high school or earlier are generally not a good idea. Don't mention potentially controversial subjects (for example, controversial religious or political issues or Willie, star trek,etc.).

Do some research, if needed

• If a school wants to know why you're applying to it rather than another school, (or in the PU case, -describe how your Purdue education would support the attainment of your personal and/or professional goals) do some research to find out what sets your choice apart from other universities or programs. If the school setting would provide an important geographical or cultural change for you, this might be a factor to mention.

I HIGHLY recommend you bookmark OWL now. It will be your friend as you write papers, as it has guidelines to writing in MLA and APA from abstract to bibliography, and for bibliography it breaks it down into very easy steps that will take the stress out of figuring out how it's done.

-Michigan State - Good place to party if you can't get into college
-U of Michigan - I could be your landlord!
-Miami University - In the middle of nowhere.
-Purdue - My father went there
-Indiana University - Breaking Away was set there.
-James Madison University - Cheese curd capital of the nation!
-Ohio State - Oh how I hate Ohio State
-U of Georgia - Too hot there in the summer.

lol I guess not important enough to reply to my post. If you want substantive advice, you have to provide substance for us to advise on.

you can get general directions and general advice anywhere. What good will that do for you, the individual?
