Confused about Romans 11:36.

Read the context:

33 O the depth of God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable his judgments are and beyond tracing out his ways are! 34 For “who has come to know Jehovah’s mind, or who has become his adviser?” 35 Or, “who has first given to him, so that it must be repaid to him?” 36 Because from him and by him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.

No one has given anything to God that he didn't already have to begin with. No one has furnished him with wisdom, understanding, counsel, might. Because from God are all these things. His wisdom is beyond our searching, no one has come to know his mind, or can teach him. He himself gives all things, and all things he does are from him and for him.

Confused about Romans 11:36.

What does Romans 11:36 mean?
As so often it helps to read another translation. My New Jerusalem bible has this as:
"Everything there is comes from him and is caused by him and exists for him. To him be glory for ever! Amen. The context is that the "him" referred to is God.

Interestingly, this has an echo at the end of the Canon of the mass, when the priest says: Per ipsum et cum ipso et in ipso est tibi Deo Pater omnipotenti, in unitate Spiritus Sancti, omnis honor et gloria per omnia saecula saeculorum. (Through him and with him and in him is to you, God the Father almighty, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory, for ever and ever.) The reference here is to Christ, of course, but I had not realised the similarity before.

its pretty clear if you read the surrounding verses

33 O the depth of God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable his judgments are and beyond tracing out his ways are!+ 34 For “who has come to know Jehovah’s mind, or who has become his adviser?”+ 35 Or, “who has first given to him, so that it must be repaid to him?”+ 36 Because from him and by him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.

All things belong to God. We cannot give him anything that he does not already have. Therefore, give him glory!

For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

The entirety of the world is from God.

The Hindus say that Creation is "an idea in the mind of the Creator."

Everything here was created by God and holds his consciousness, to some extent.

So, you know, a sunset is that ball of gas 100 million miles away. But it is also beauty. How so? Well, beauty is a kind of state of consciousness. That is a kind of way we can think about the presence of God behind things.

So, all things come from him and are him.

We are just vessels witnessing the experience.
