Congratulations to Britain and Keir Starmers Labour party

The thing is, Labour (a center-left government) was criticised all through the election campaign for NOT making election promises. So they have gained power with a slightly more free hand than usual.
And a whopping majority. Here's hoping the put both to some use.

I wish I had a better sense of the vote.

Kudos to labor, but also to the Liberal Democrats who gained 60 seats from the Conservatives. Yes, Farage and his Reform U.K. did relatively well, but "relatively" should be emphasized. It was the center-left that surged, and that can only be seen as good news. Let's hope they can live up to their promise.

Reform split the right of centre vote and let Labour and the liberals through the middle.
The popularist vote went to reform fairly evenly from right and left. But not much from the Liberals , who had few past supporters of that ilk

The actual vote only went up just under 2% for labour and 1% for The Liberals while reform vote rose by so much as most of the disenchanted Tory vote went to them. And rose 12%. However in reality the switching of votes was rather more complex than that in detail.

Only the Liberals got more or less the forecast vote from recent polls. They won' so many seats because they held many second places from the Tories in previous elections, and spent most of their effort fighting those seats.

Labour are hamstrung by the fact that the UK is in an appalling financial a fiscal state.
They are undoubtedly going to have to borrow to spend.
They will need to plan very carefully to be able to spend in a way that brings the greatest and fastest returns and rewards.
Unfortunately this prioritization will bring with it much heart ache and dissatisfaction in the short term.

It will be essential to re strengthen trade with Europe and China. These are potentially our greatest trade partners.

As China has shown infrastructure and manufacturing and research are key to rapid growth, we are not exactly world leaders at any.
We are exceedingly bad at planning, speed of execution and staying on budget.

We should put people in charge of these projects, who have a proven track record, and make sure they have the ideas and the authority to make things happen. Without beurocratic red tape getting in their way. Reverse the premise of regulation and planning. By putting the onus on the authorities to prove why a project should be restricted and that the costs outweigh the benefits. All within a preset time limit.
No project should take longer than a year to approve or the project would automatically get the go ahead.

Congratulations to Britain and *edit* Keir Starmers Labour party.

I hope to see the poor of Britain benefit from this landslide Labour victory.
Well.Labour could introduce a voluntary tax for those who want to help extend 2 children benefit cap. They could keep Rwanda. It might be a waste of time .But why chuck already spent taxpayer money down the drain.Experiment.It might have a deterrent effect.

Finally I love German cars. However Mr Sunak and Sir Kier need to factor in a lot of people were watching on TV worldwide.Could the Civil service consider something British built.?

There are no British owned industrial scale car makers. Not sure a Morgan would meet the necessary security needs.
However if we want better and cheaper cars, they are readily available from CHINA.
The money spent setting up the Ruanda scheme is already spent and wasted and down the drain To keep it alive would cost vastly more.
And more still on court cases it would induce.

The chancellor will undoubtedly need to find more than are in the Tory depleted coffers. One way or another the only choices, in the short term, are more debt or higher taxes. No doubt we are in for a mix of the two. In the ling term further spending must come from increased business activity
With foreign markets. The two largest are Europe and China. We would be very foolish not to engage with and prioritise both.

let's hope they are real socialists...
at last...
after too many banking élites ....
Ah.....well.
Thing is, we are a money, insurance, stock, investment, banking centre, so the money spinners do have a lot of clout in our country and our leaders have to think about that.

We are (mostly) not hardened socialists here, but we do have a center-left wing government now within our capitalist system.

If you want hard communism where the people, the proletariat, rule then I'm hard put to think of a country for you.

Oh yes they look after the poor alright, they have taken away the cold weather payment for old people away, over 2 million households will suffer, more hospitalised people, more drain on services.

statement to the Commons,” Rachel Reeves said: “Let me be clear, this is not a decision I wanted to make, nor is it the one that I expected to make, but these are the necessary and urgent decisions that I must make.”

At that point I felt this woman will be a disaster for the country,She is George Osbourne in a dress.

Correct me if I’m wrong, are labour supposed to be socialist?,lol, what we have here are austerity Tories pretending to be Labour, champagne socialists, there will be problems ahead and I guarantee the party will split,I give it 18 months ish, once they’re done with old people they’ll be coming after you lol.

They've been expelling socialist party members and deselecting candidates from the left of the party since the neoliberal faction regained control.

If Labour won't support working people, now that they've crushed the left, they will be laying the ground for a far right government in 5 years. Pretty soon, somewhere in Europe, we're going to see neo-nazis in power. No reason why it won't be the UK.

Labour promised not to raise taxes,no shock really they are, labour are also delaying the free speech law.

Labour haven’t finished with the elderly yet they are going after the care of the elderly with dementia, this is just the begging,I loath Starmer ,he’s spineless along with Nandy and Reeves is an out and out liar.

The people who voted labour in are now in shock by what has happened and are just coming to terms with the crap that’s coming.

If their predecessors had not hidden their overspending, this would not have happened.
I will lose my winter heating allowance, it'll cost me £250 a year, BUT I do not need it, it was a bonus. I am happy to see it go.

If labour hadn’t left a £50 billion black hole the last time they were in …….,that’s pure bs,this is an unimaginative chancellor and also a liar,it is true not all the elderly rely on the winter payment because of private pensions and savings but people on just state pensions are only just over the threshhold of pension credit so will get zilch.

I volunteer for a charity that provides for people in hardship, food clothes petrol gas electricity even mobile phone credit, the numbers since covid have steadily come down but now we are preparing for a very tough winter for many, our country is the worst at caring for the elderly in Europe,it’s embarrassing and now Labour are George Osbourne.

Spineless Starmer and crew have delayed the free speech law,the man who couldn’t answer the simple question “does a woman have a penis”,his answer was hilarious.

Nandy gutless,I once thought she could make a politician but despite a man being faster stronger than a woman in sport it should be up to the sporting bodies to decide if it would be a fair fight.

These people have no resemblance to old labour values, these are not for the working class, these are top end, unions included, champagne socialist ,actually socialist, that’s a stretch, they’re like Blair the liar except who caused a lot of deaths by taking us to war, labour today found a much easier target and cause deaths, shameful.

Oh, grief!
Still going on about Labour's state of finance in 2010
In 2008 there was a global crash; Brown and Darling led the world in the way they handled it.

Brown gave away our money, don’t worry too much, labour won’t last long,I generously give 18 months till a split occurred in the party and Farage to cash in on Labour being damaging and useless.

You supported Brexit, that is not being mentioned by either side ... but it is a serious problem for our economy.
