Do you believe that the Penrose-Hameroff Orch-OR theory of consciousness? Do you think that consciousness can be measured at a quantum level, or that it exists at a quantum level?

if i understood the question i would answer it.
I am always trying to understand & relate.
Hope you get you question addressed & if there is a concern there it is put to rest.

Reading your posts recently is the first I've heard of it. I've been reading a bit about it, but so far it appears to not be able to answer the question it claims to answer and creates a whole new set of unanswered questions.

I believe everything to do with the afterlife is to be found at the quatum level, because I believe we are talking about a different dimension that cannot be measured in our 4 dimensional world. It is to be found in M theory I believe.

I still believe consciousness is an emergent feature of complex neurological systems. So out of fashion.

I believe this is the right track of fully understanding consciousness as well as answer many questions (but of course with questions answered there are always more questions created). Quantum measurement would be IMO the best option from what I understand so far (I haven't finished reading the entire thesis). What I really like about the theory is that it lends a hand to how we can achieve a Class-1 Society.

Right, but that complex neurological system extends down into the quantum levels. The full properties of consciousness just aren't being observed at the higher levels. Its only natural to look at the quantum level for answers.

Sure, but so does every other model if there is a need to carry it that far. What I find troubling with this idea is that it mixes scientific terminology into what it rather obviously a way of thinking that is well within the arena of religious mythology. The product is a non-testable proclamation about "souls" being "quantum events" or "quantum level phenomena." In everything I've read so far, I've yet to see anybody explain what that even means, let alone explain how it constitutes a workable, explanatory model for consciousness.

Do you expect anyone could provide a workable, explanatory model for consciousness? I'm just confused about what exactly people think needs to be explained about it. :p

I don't have any expectation that they would. But that's nevertheless the claim of this theory. It doesn't accomplish that goal from what I can tell.
