Considering Converting

Anglicanism covers a vast area of churches. About half belong to the Anglican communion. The rest have broken away at various times over dogma issues.
You will find a greater resistance to Female priest in the high churches... Both in and outside the communion.
The Anglican Communion is extremely broad in its membership but also very worship driven.

You've talked to me enough ,xkatz to get a sense of what it means when I say,

I've been welcomed into the Anglican Churches I've been in all over Canada,
'High' (Anglo-Catholic), 'Low' (Reformed) and in between, from west to east.

What has 'fit' for me is the acceptance and openness on Contemplative practices.

In particular now, the one I attend is quite steeped in Orthodox leanings,
theological interpretation and practices, all the while retaining the standard Book of Common prayer Rites.

I've had equally unique, but open experiences with the Episcopal Church in the States,
although finding a more Anglo-Catholic one was more challenging.

Me Myself

This may seem unrelated fat irst but bear with me :D :

When I decided to become a vegetarian, I had looked it up already and been for arounda week more seriously contemplating it and more importantly seeing all the health implications of it. I also had a pair of vegetarian meals in that time, simply be cooking myself some stuff without meat that according to my research should be good nutritious veggy eating. I was still unsure, but I knew I had to make the test. That part I knew very clearly: I had to immerse more in it before making my choice.

I decided to tell my parents, as I said, after having done the research. They were resistant to the idea, but once they heard I did my research they said they would support me if that was what I wanted, even though they are concerned and hope I decided not to turn veg after my week of trial (that I told them I would have)

All my family thought it was a phase and said it was unhealthy. My uncle laughed it up sang as soon as I find a woman who loves meat( which I did) I would dump vegetarianism (which I didnt :D).

Long story short, today my grandma says I have great willpower for sticking to it, she alqays makes me a special thing apart when we have a family meal (always good! :D) and my mom told me the other day she is seriously considering vegetarianism. (Granted, she said she would still have unveggy meals here and there. but its a big change!)My blood results show I am picture of health.

Now back to you :D

E reason I told my parents was because I hadd to. We live in the same house (well, dad moved out now) so They would know I was doing not eating meat that week(remember I was still in trial phase, while I was almost sure I wanted to be a veg, till then it was all theory (and of course the emotional attraction to the lifestyle being the correct one) )

I was very lucky they supported me. While I did had to discard a comment or two after the talk we had in general they didnt bash me for it even while they clearly to.d me they didnt like it. Had it been different maybe ñi would have doubted myself too much to keep at it (doubt that :D but one never knows)

I would suggest you not telling em about it until your yourself feel sure about it. When I say sure, ñi dont mean sure from outside, I mean sure after having lived the life, lived the change. Because then it will be easier for you to talk from a place of calmness of certainty of this being what you really want. They may not like it, but with time, what you like is what will stick, and if you dont explode back at them ( as sage tree adviced you to refrain from doing with all your might) and are able to talk back in a calm way and a way that does tell them you understand thier concerns and even value them as they are the signal of their love, they will be able to tell "well then what is this thing so important that she is makinig this change for?" But actually ASK themselves the question, not as a rethoric one they already know the answer (foolishness, a phase, rebellion, etc) but as a real question.

So, sorry for the long paragraphs, but that would be my advice. If you are on a frail stage (and it may not feel like a frail stage) you may want to advance yourself and go back to them once you are more certain, more confident, etc.

They will eventually feel that confidence too :)

That's great! I'm just wondering, have you checked out a Catholic parish? Catholics are quite similar to Anglicans in many respects.
