I loathe the term Conspiracy "Theory".

They are not theories, they are merely speculation.

We agree. The 9/11 conspiracy "theory" uses blurry photos and video in order to seek true.

According to this blurry video, the Earth is flat and surrounded by a massive unbreakable glass dome!

I tend to find conspiracy theories laughable.

Except the theories of David Icke, of course. He's clearly on the mark about everything.

The Emperor of Mankind

Currently the galaxy's spookiest paraplegic
I can think of two off the top of my head:
  1. Gravity is just a CIA plot to keep us all on Earth;
  2. The world is a lot smaller than 'they' would have us believe. Airlines, map makers, mobile phone companies, they're all in on it. The planes fly in big circles to make you think you've travelled further. In reality, you could walk to Moscow in half an hour.

why you believe in them
Because of the available evidence..... Yet i don't have any beliefs outside of the evidence.
The Hollywood Elite are all satanists/luciferians
Not heard of that before, it is normally that Hollywood, and a lot of our media is owned by Zionist Jews....Again based on the evidence.
these flights of wild speculation.
There are thousands of professional architects, and engineers, who have all stated the towers had to be demolished....

The facts are there for people to look; yet many believe what ever they're told to, without questioning.
We agree. The 9/11 conspiracy "theory" uses blurry photos and video in order to seek true.
Here is a main video that was put on numerous news channels globally:
The news are the outlets who use blurry images, as they did on the Charlie Hebdo attack, as there was no blood, bullets, etc....So they blurred it to cover the gore, when there was none.

9/11 was an inside job - very possible
The Illuminati still exists - sure they do, but IMO it's not possible to talk about Illuminati as a single coherent organized group.
A government is hiding extraterrestrial contact - not sure
The Hollywood Elite are all satanists/luciferians - some of them are. It's not a theory, it's a fact. In California, there's a strong religious organization called the Temple of Set among many other things referring to what you meant
The Elite have underground cities - they have, proven, all over the World
The Elite want to reduce the world population to 1 billion or under 500 million - quite possible (The Georgia Guidestones ("American Stonehenge") - I guess it's not just a joke), just a hint...
Most terrorist attacks are false flag operations - some are, not most
Obama is from Kenya - who cares...
Black operations include mind control experiments carried out on civilians - mind control is powerful tool to manipulate people and it is a science based method, very well masted and developed. It could be also a black operation, but I don't believe it's still in use any more, since there are more reliable methods.

It’s quite common for people to be charged and convicted of having perpetrated illegal conspiracies. There is definitely no rational reason to promote the idea that conspiracies don’t happen.

I've spent too much time debunking them, through basic common knowledge (especially 9/11 - I mean, common, we have proof of Tuskegee, of MKUltra, Iran-Contra, but zilch about a 9/11 insider job, even after Wikileaks, Chelsea Manning, and Edward Snowden) to believe in any of them. However, I am fond of the "FEMA Death Camps" because I live just a few miles from one of the alleged sites, and there is no way in hell it's a FEMA death camp, or any FEMA establishment at all, because what they are calling a "death camp" is actually nothing more than a prison.

The definition of "consipiracy theory" very frequently and very often includes the word "belief." When we have hard and concrete evidence, such as with War Plan Red, we do not call them conspiracy theories but facts. But when it's something like saying 9/11 was an insider job and that explosives were used to bring down the towers, we call these conspiracy theories because there is no evidence - indeed the evidence actually points to the contrary - of a government insider job, but people believe in it anyways.

Of course, the author of the study and news media are in on trying to discount conspiracy theories, so people won't look for the truth anymore!
Very good method to use if someone doesn't want to be disturbed by others is to make a compromised identity to opponents.
News media master that operation.

What was your refutation of the conclusions in the paper, Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe, here: http://benthamopen.com/contents/pdf/TOCPJ/TOCPJ-2-7.pdf ?

We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in significant numbers in dust associated with the World Trade Center destruction. We have applied SEM/XEDS and other methods to characterize the small- scale structure and chemical signature of these chips, especially of their red component. The red material is most interesting and has the following characteristics:

1. It is composed of aluminum, iron, oxygen, silicon and carbon. Lesser amounts of other potentially reactive elements are sometimes present, such as potassium, sulfur, lead, barium and copper.

2. The primary elements (Al, Fe, O, Si, C) are typically all present in particles at the scale of tens to hundreds of nanometers, and detailed XEDS mapping shows intimate mixing.

3. On treatment with methyl ethyl ketone solvent, some segregation of components occurred. Elemental aluminum became sufficiently concentrated to be clearly identified in the pre-ignition material.

4. Iron oxide appears in faceted grains roughly 100 nm across whereas the aluminum appears in thin platelike structures. The small size of the iron oxide particles qualifies the material to be characterized as nanothermite or super-thermite.

5. Analysis shows that iron and oxygen are present in a ratio consistent with Fe2O3. The red material in all four WTC dust samples was similar in this way. Iron oxide was found in the pre-ignition material whereas elemental iron was not.

6. From the presence of elemental aluminum and iron oxide in the red material, we conclude that it contains the ingredients of thermite.

7. As measured using DSC, the material ignites and reacts vigorously at a temperature of approximately 430 °C, with a rather narrow exotherm, matching fairly closely an independent observation on a known super-thermite sample. The low temperature of ignition and the presence of iron oxide grains less than 120 nm show that the material is not conventional thermite (which ignites at temperatures above 900 °C) but very likely a form of super-thermite.

8. After igniting several red/gray chips in a DSC run to 700 °C, we found numerous iron-rich spheres and spheroids in the residue, indicating that a very high temperature reaction had occurred, since the iron-rich product clearly must have been molten to form these shapes. In several spheres, elemental iron was verified since the iron content significantly exceeded the oxygen content. We conclude that a high-temperature reduction-oxidation reaction has occurred in the heated chips, namely, the thermite reaction.

9. The spheroids produced by the DSC tests and by the flame test have an XEDS signature (Al, Fe, O, Si, C) which is depleted in carbon and aluminum relative to the original red material. This chemical signature strikingly matches the chemical signature of the spheroids produced by igniting commercial thermite, and also matches the signatures of many of the microspheres found in the WTC dust [5].

10. The carbon content of the red material indicates that an organic substance is present. This would be expected for super-thermite formulations in order to produce high gas pressures upon ignition and thus make them explosive. The nature of the organic material in these chips merits further exploration. We note that it is likely also an energetic material, in that the total energy release sometimes observed in DSC tests exceeds the theoretical maximum energy of the classic thermite reaction.

Based on these observations, we conclude that the red layer of the red/gray chips we have discovered in the WTC dust is active, unreacted thermitic material, incorporating nanotechnology, and is a highly energetic pyrotechnic or explosive material. (my bolding)

This isn't the thread for it, but I can assure you all such conspiracy theories, including thermite, have been thoroughly debunked, and not by government agencies.

Actually the 'Elite want to reduce the population' one isn't so far-fetched. It's immensely exaggerated, but not without truth.

For a while the Rothschild family (as well as others) have been interested in easing population growth and to this end they often lobby for a 'one child per family' policy for about the next one hundred years. So far as I can tell, however, they have no desire to actively reduce the population through any other means than this.

I believe in the conspiracy theory that people who believe in conspiracy theories would generally benefit from some type of therapy/medication, as well as some education in critical thinking methods and concepts.
I share your believe. People who are interested in conspiracy theories and spend more time dwelling on that subject, then on other things in there's own life, could have some problems. It doesn't mean that that "set of theories" is completely nonsense.

Your so-called "peer-reviewed article" probably isn't; in fact it may be the article mentioned in the rationalwiki article linked to below, the one that prompted the journal editor--a respectable scientist--to resign his editorship of the Bentham-published journal over. Bentham Open asks authors to pay $800 for their articles to be published--unheard of in legitimate academia. And there is evidence that many articles are never read by academics in the field before being accepted and published.

The author the "scholarly kitchen" blog created and submitted a nonsense article (also mentioned in the rationalwiki article) that was accepted for publication, apparently without any actual peer review--and with a request for $800 from the authors.

http://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2009/06/10/nonsense-for-dollars/

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Bentham_Science_Publishers

You, too, can apparently submit an article to this "peer-reviewed" journal publisher and pay to get it published, supporting whatever conspiracy you personally favor. The fact that this happened at ANY of their journals makes ALL of their publications suspect.
