Could the origin of the idea of an "Original Sin" be the perception...

... that we are all so reliant on the good will of others and end up corrupting each other when it is perceived as necessary for survival (or at least for some measure of security and confort)?
there is a first for every little thing

I find the Spanish literal translation says it all in a word..........without

believers lean to the notion that Man was perfect in the beginning
(I don't believe that)

Man did something he was told not to
(I don't believe that either)

but many think that first occasion would be the original sin
and now we are ....without.... God

sinners

It came from observation. Cause and effect, being a chain that affects those generations after us.

The idea of original sin is to say we are corrupt naturally. It isn't really a healthy outlook to begin with. It comes from a flawed premise that humans require saving from ourselves that can be only through god. Alcoholics anonymous uses the same premise. With that sometimes I find people may need to believe something is greater, but thats with the flawed premise, when it is entirely possible that this something "greater" has been within all along.

That's not what the Bible says at all.

No, it's what you said.

It is the truth. You either choose to adhere to it or you do not. Pretty simple concept, really.

Simple, perhaps, but also inane.

I can just as easily tell you that Voluspa and Havamal are the truth, and you can either adhere to it or not. And there's just as much support for that statement as there is for yours. In fact, there's only two points of support: jack and squat. And Jack left town.
