If you answered yes, list your skills!

Mine: hunting (rifle or bow), skinning/tanning, fishing, wilderness survival, herbal lore, first aid, sewing, leather working, orienteering (map/compass or celestial navigation), gardening/farming, carpentry, basic blacksmithing, martial arts (karate, judo, PPCT/SSGT), horseback riding, army infantry combat tactics, cooking, and leadership.

I spent 10 years in the Cub/Boy Scouts, army enlistment as 11 Bravo (infantry), 13 years as a police officer and I have always been an outdoorsman. I grew up in the country.

I wish there was a maybe option? Only Jesus can get you through the Apocalypse. Unless you think it's really going to be like on the Walking Dead, which I doubt.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.

The Apocalypse has already happened. Trump is now POTUS. I think I'll survive quite nicely.

Can we define what sort of apocalypse this is?

I'm going with "The Last of Us" style spore zombie apocalypse.
Since it's somewhat realistic to some extent and much more simple to survive in than a Fallout scenario.

I can kill stuff pretty easily, thanks to my grandpa's way of life.
Knives, guns, bows, crossbows, trapping and fishing are things I have skill in.
I'm not any sort of professional, but I can stay alive in the woods for a couple months with few issues.
My accuracy is something I'm confident in, as is my ability to stay calm and think things through.

If I am in a group, I can blend into the background and do the dirty work to stay alive.
Versatility is me, it comes from how I had to grow up.

I have nothing like that. I just try and stay ahead of the curve and watch out for warning signs. I did breifly take an interest in survivalism but haven't pursued it much further than "being aware" of the possibilities. Its pretty tricky though as the media does everything as if its "apocolypse now". So you have to unpick the threats from the real and the imagined.

Good for you btw. :)

P.s. Voted "no". I think a healthy pessimism might keep me alive.

Could I survive an apocalypse? Hell no. I'd be ground up and turned into Greased Scots jerky. I'm fighting someone for the trademark on that just now.

If you can read this, you are as lucky as I am.
I voted no.

The apocalypse concept is as mythological from a practical standpoint as it is from a religious one.

Apocalypse scenarios are usually one of three things:

1. Posturing about how awesome you are.

2. A form of pessimism about the future, bordering on social and economic paranoia.

3.Wishful thinking, which probably stems from a level of misanthropy and lonliness requiring some moderate counseling.

The world's not going to end as long as we still care about it.

I went with no, since chances are, that's the case. But I'd go down kicking and screaming. I'd envisage making it to about episode 4 of the reality tv series that is 'Survivor - Apocolypse'.

I can hunt with a bow, terrible at skinning (tried it), decent fisherman. Basic first aid, sewing, carpentry. No kung-fu, and my google-fu is unlikely to be helpful. I can cook. But ultimately my skills are my willingness to dig in, and my ability to blend into groups. I might not be the most useful person, but I can generally avoid being the least useful.

When I lived in remote Papua New Guinea, there was always a small chance that things would go really bad, really quick, and a couple of times they did. So I always knew where the closest weapons were, be they knife, harpoon-gun or dog. And I had a plan in mind for how and where I'd flee to. I also became good at just being aware of my surroundings, and spending enough cash with locals that I'd get a little local protection (information mostly). None of that required any actual skill apart from using my brain for something more practical than debating religion. ;)

"Apocalypse" could be interpreted as any event that causes societal collapse rather than an actual end to the planet.

I'm sure I could survive an apocalypse. I'm not so sure I could survive all the paranoid, delusional yahoos running around after-the-fact. Although, I'd be more than willing to off as many of them as I needed to to keep me and my family alive and safe.

I could totally survive because...oh my god.. I'm just so damn awesome!

2. A form of pessimism about the future, bordering on social and economic paranoia.
But I'm not sure what that matters anyway. With the way things have been going, who knows what might happen next. I mean, just look at the stock market - look at the way our government operates - look at the downward spiral that society has fallen into. Our only hope really is to horde gold and silver in our beds and wait this thing out.

3.Wishful thinking, which probably stems from a level of misanthropy and lonliness requiring some moderate counseling.
It wouldn't be all that bad to start society over from scratch, ya know? We can only trust and depend on ourselves in this world. A new cultural paradigm would be created wherein humanity would be made up of only the most versatile and capable beings... not that I would want much to do with that, since I'd just keep to myself and revel in my solitude, like I've always done.

I might even take on some of you, pending you have a skill we need (doctor, nurse, engineer, hooker...) :D
