Counting the Days 'til Nov. 5th

Luckily I do not get exposed to that where I live. My state is voting for Harris, like it or not the lead is far too large for individual voters to make any difference in the Presidential race. We do not get any Presidential TV ads here either. Both parties know that it would be a waste of money to advertise here. Democrats do not need to and no amount of ads for Trump would turn the state red.

But I am still doing a little. Last weekend I went canvassing for the Democratic Party. Going door to door handing out material and reminding people to vote on November 5th. The idea is to get support for all levels of Democratic elected offices. It is just a knock. One short question, and a bit of info dropped off for perspective supporters of the Democrats and on to the next house.

Anyone else hearing this stuff from people in your lives that you care about? How do you keep from going just as batty by association?
Yeah just one who I won't mention by name. I just remind them of their favorite saying, "we all have our own beliefs". I'm lucky they like that saying because it saves us many an acrimonious debate since I'm an evidenced based person whereas they are more of a "I heard it a few times so it must be true" type of person. Because of this we manage to have an awesome friendship believe it or not.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
This is one of those times where I'm glad I'm a theist, because here we are: the most powerful country in the world, at the apex of human civilization, the self-proclaimed moral, technological, and economic compass for the rest of the world, and out of 333 million people we can't find a single one that anybody really has any real confidence in it to run the show.

We're on the brink of ecological disaster, nuclear war, societal meltdown, and global economic collapse and not only aren't we even close to finding any answers, almost nobody seems interested in asking the questions.

Everybody's too fixated on what's wrong with everybody else.

So like I say it's times like this I'm glad I'm a theist because, let's face it: the clowns are running the circus, we're the clowns, and if there isn't some sort of omni-balevolent ringmaster running the show behind the scenes, I don't see what's going to keep the Big top from coming down on our heads.
I think that's because things are not really designed for any individual to make significant change for the better.

Its a systemic collective problem where over the years, decades , centuries , or however you want to put it , the system has been designed or redesigned to accommodate only a very few people along with the club they belong to.

True to history, nothing's changed with the fact that there will always be a nobility , and a peasantry , and the nobility will always feed off those beneath them , only granting concessions and benefits barely just enough to keep the peasantry alive so they can continue on feeding off of them in a collective way much like a farmer raises cattle and milks them and takes their meat for themselves.

Ironically the cattle still needs the farmers to keep them fed because the cattle can't live on their own in the wild.

I see it as being screwed two ways to Sunday with some venues to barely keep the food on the table and a roof over one's head.

If one of the nobility sees it and tries to help out people for real rather than just spouting out platitudes then you see what happens to that individual when they turn on each other and make attempts to turn that individual into a member of the peasantry and kicked out of the nobility club.

It's at least how it comes across to me.

Same here and the People's Republic is definitely a Harris state so my vote won't mean nothing at all at this point so I'm not voting this cycle. I also promised no vote from me this year.

Rest assured I'll be voting for the mid terms and next president if I'm still alive by then.

So you won't be complaining the outcome. That is some good news.

When you start seeing Harris's own base and media jumping ship, I am not too worried about what the outcome will be, but I'm sure there will be endless tedious threads in the hundreds if not the thousands once Trump takes office by those most afflicted with TDS.

Bonfire night in the UK, great fun where bonfires are lit and fireworks are set off all over the UK.

Just don't get burned and make sure your pets are safely indoors.

Also know as Guy Faulks night, the night when security foiled a Catholic plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament and the MPs within it.

Guy Faulks was burned at the stake for his crimes, so hence the bonfire and its 3rd name among some people, Burn a Catholic night.

Back to the thread. Do these Trump followers never fact check their conspiracy theories and fake news before making blithering idiots of themselves?

You do not seem to understand what TDS is. It is a disease that both sides can have. These days it is almost exclusively a MAGA disease.

Even if Trump wins he may not take office. He appears to have been undergoing a rapid mental decline. It has affected his campaign. He has cancelled quite a few events lately. At one event he couldn't answer any questions and swayed to music for thirty nine minutes. A vote for Trump is in reality a vote for Vance.

I have always looked at it as 'the clowns are running the circus, we(people) are the circus and the politicians are the clowns'.
