I don't think people are just letting vaccine "sit around" and not be administered, to be fair. This vaccine rollout has been one of the fastest we've had that I know of, globally and here nationally in the US.

I don't think people are just letting vaccine "sit around" and not be administered, to be fair. This vaccine rollout has been one of the fastest we've had that I know of, globally and here nationally in the US.
Anyone who wants to run for office/reelection and wants to tout his or her part in helping people.
Maybe I got suckered in by news reports but there are a fair number of "it could be much faster" stories.
If it were a military call-to-arms the pace would be dizzying.
Things go wrong. Mass vaccination involves co-ordination between shippers, distributors, storage facilities, medical facilities and administrators of many kinds. These operations often operate 9 - 5, they're often new and unfamiliar, backup plans for various glitches are lacking, and people occasionally just screw up.

That doesn't take action, just impassioned public rhetoric.
The feds timely delivered 1.8M vaccines to California, but the state has been able to administer only 300,000 doses so far. I know the haters love to blame Trump for everything, but the problem extends well beyond the feds. In California, Newsom is the main problem, not Trump.

I have a friend who works in the ER of a large medical system, one of the largest in the country.
They have had 7,000 refusals of the vaccine among doctors, nurses and staff. Some of those doses will not get used, and will spoil and go to waste.
My friend assures me these refusals are NOT due to a detailed understanding or specific concerns about the vaccine. Just uninformed angst and feelings they aren’t motivated to question.
Meanwhile, at current death rates, another 100,000 Americans will perish over the next month or two. That’s one 9/11 every day.
The excessive paranoia and politicization of the virus from the highest levels of leadership continue to do tremendous damage.
This virus was nobody’s fault. It was going to kill a lot of people no matter what. It was going to hurt the economy no matter what. But to exacerbate it **unnecessarily** the way this administration has done, is just inexcusable. They planted the seeds of confusion and irrationality and partisanship over the virus and now we are ALL paying the price.

As I understand it, this vaccine has a shelf life of about one month at -100F.
