This is the first time I've heard of it. I gather its a political hot potato.

critical race theory | Definition, Principles, & Facts
Critical Race Theory // Purdue Writing Lab
"Critical Race Theory, or CRT, is a theoretical and interpretive mode that examines the appearance of race and racism across dominant cultural modes of expression. In adopting this approach, CRT scholars attempt to understand how victims of systemic racism are affected by cultural perceptions of race and how they are able to represent themselves to counter prejudice." --the above owl.purdue.edu link
What Is Critical Race Theory, and Why Is It Under Attack?
"Critical race theory is an academic concept that is more than 40 years old. The core idea is that racism is a social construct, and that it is not merely the product of individual bias or prejudice, but also something embedded in legal systems and policies." -- Edweek org (link above
What is critical race theory, and why are conservatives blocking it? - Poynter
"Conservative lawmakers in over a dozen states, including Missouri, Idaho, Tennessee, have introduced bills aimed at barring critical race theory in the classroom." --above poynter.org link
A Lesson on Critical Race Theory
"In September 2020, President Trump issued an executive order excluding from federal contracts any diversity and inclusion training interpreted as containing “Divisive Concepts,” “Race or Sex Stereotyping,” and “Race or Sex Scapegoating.” Among the content considered “divisive” is Critical Race Theory (CRT). In response, the African American Policy Forum, led by legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw, launched the #TruthBeTold campaign to expose the harm that the order poses." --above americanbar org link

Critical Race Theory is racist anti-white propaganda and a radical attempt to indoctrinate naive and impressionable people into more extreme far-left ideas and world views.

It is clearly obvious. Ignore the inaccurate descriptions and actually learn about what is being taught, and discover this truth for yourselves. It doesn’t solve racism. It creates more of it. It doesn’t make people more united. It divides them further.

I sort of like the comments from people who have obviously never even read the Wikipedia entry for the term or the resumé and resources offered by @Brickjectivity and instead went on to state what their prejudice and limited experience of it.

I personally think that Critical Race Theory premises are astute, demonstrable and important, but I do believe that many conclusion from its proponent are short sighted and would ultimately be inefficient (sort of like throwing the baby with the bathwater type of scenario). Though I will admit that my knowledge of law and its function is limited.

Of course, it's the boogeyman of the day for the far-right who is pathologically afraid of both the academia, socialism and cosmopolitanism and since CRT all three to a certain extend, it's indeed very scary looking.

When googled this is what comes up first...

"Critical race theory (CRT) is an academic movement of civil-rights scholars and activists in the United States who seek to critically examine the law as it intersects with issues of race and to challenge mainstream liberal approaches to racial justice."

So I'm going with its political.

“Critical Race Theory” rejects logical investigation, denies proper examination, and will continue to support an incorrect narrative. It will only strengthen the negative image of the intellectual capacities of nonwhites.

I always find it apparent who is a far right wing person when they badly misrepresent what CRT intends to investigate and teach. They aren't looking at objective and reputable references, so that leaves disinformation sites.

this topic seems to be causing trouble for the SBC, among others

here is a link to an article

Racial Tensions Simmer as Southern Baptists Hold Key Meeting

also I heard that Oklahoma passed a law that CRT cannot be taught in
schools.

Oklahoma governor signs ban on teaching critical race theory

does this battle seem similar to the battle against evolution?
That's an interesting question. Evolution has certainly been vilified by the right wing, and this tends to be a way for the right to reject and vilify any science that is contrary to their social or political views. Could it be banning CRT is a way to vilify liberalism and civil rights in the minds of conservative voters?

Ironically CRT would examine these bans as part of the history of racism.

They're just using typical old school communist arguments about class struggle and instead replacing it with race struggle. Many people are seeing through this nonsense including minorities.

Do you think/believe all races are treated equally by law enforcement, courts, employment opportunities, education, etc?

Outside of this post, I have no plans to ever respond to you. If you continue along the lines you are going, I will report you.
Ditto funny bunny. You drew and seeked my attention when you constantly respond to people I converse with and that replied to my posts with your reply to them of "you're beating a dead horse".

I guess I should report all of those.

Hmm. I see after my response you edited your post.
Here was your original post which was captured in my response to you in my post #18

Except from what I just read, I have no idea what CRT really says. So I would have (and maybe should have) voted "Don't know" but this

has me convinced that it must have merit.
