The Idiot’s Guide To Spiritual Awakening

· Paperback: 384 pages
· Publisher: Alpha; 1 edition
· Language: English
· ISBN: 0028638263

I enjoy the Dummy and Idiot’s book. They are humorous and patient and understanding and do not expect much from one’s intelligence. Spirituality is also something that I am interested in so that is why this book is such a pleasurable read. If you think the practical teachings of spiritual awakening are impossible to express in this series of books you will be surprised at how “hands on” it is.
The book teaches you what spirituality is, how to choose the correct path, learn to think out of the box, intuitive guidance and discusses traditional Western and Eastern traditional beliefs. Offering easy to use disciplines, this book offers a personal, practical way to achieve enlightenment and improvement in one’s everyday life.

i'm reading two books right now-

the imitation of christ by tomas a kempis

no greater love by mother teresa

both are very challanging reads. the texts essentially urge us to become saints, to re-evaluate our values and our behavior and to strive harder to walk a good path and get the most out of our time on earth. very good boks, and i recomend them both.

I just finished "Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral" by Kris Radish. It is a novel about a group of women with a friend in common, to whom they have promised to conduct a multi stop funeral across the country. Interesting interactions among them, within each, and through the connections that Annie leaves behind. Fairly quick to read and enjoyable. Comparable to a "chick flick"-sorry, guys.

Grey Muzzle
I just finished re-reading Dune by Frank Herbert (one of my favorite books of all time)
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer (a very gripping first hand accound of a disasterous few days on Mt Everest)
Pride of Baghdad by Brian K. Vaughan and Niko Henrichon (a graphic Novel that I can't give enough koodo's... all I can say is wow. It is based on the true story of a group of four lions that roamed Baghdad after escaping the bombed out zoo.)
Here is some of what Vertigo has to say about it:
In the spring of 2003, a pride of lions escaped from the Baghdad Zoo during an American bombing raid. Lost and confused, hungry but finally free, the four lions roamed the decimated streets of Baghdad in a desperate struggle for their lives. In documenting the plight of the lions, PRIDE OF BAGHDAD raises questions about the true meaning of liberation — can it be given, or is it earned only through self-determination and sacrifice? And in the end, is it truly better to die free than to live life in captivity?

Intelligent Life In The Universe
By I.S. Shklovskii and Carl Sagan
Science/ Technology

Recommended to me, the book promotes that it is a rational study in the probability of other intelligent life forms in the Universe. Written by Carl Sagan and collaborated with Russian Astronomer I.S. Shklovskii.

I am currently reading No Logo by Naomi Klein and Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. I just finished Accidents of Nature by Harriet McBryde Johnson and Invisible Monsters, also by Chuck Palahniuk.

I highly recommend all four.

I'm currently reading Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. Seems great so far, lives up to its place as the inspiration for the one movie that is probably my favorite.

I LOVE that movie, but haven't had a chance to read the book yet.

I'm currently waiting for midterms to be over before I get to read anything of my own choosing.

I'm reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch. Pretty decent fiction about a girl named Astrid who's mother murders her boyfriend and goes to prison. The story revolves around all the foster homes Astrid is involved in and the hard times she goes though. I wanted to read it because my mother spent many years in foster homes. Tis a tough life and even though this story is fiction, it's somewhat similar to my mom's childhood.

Wonder Woman
I'm reading Wicked; The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. By Gregory Maguire. After I finish it I have Son of a Witch waiting on the shelf for me.

Still reading it. I would be a bit embarrased if someone actually compared this to my last post. I had to renew it from the library and had to pay $1.35 in late charges. The ironic part is that if you can see the price at the bottom, the time that the book came out it only cost $2.95. It is a thick book but it is not easy to understand. It is a interesting read but its not an inspiring read.

I've just started reading 'The Mist-Filled Path' and 'The Spiral of Memory and Belonging', both by Scottish-Irish American poet Frank MacEowen.
So far, I've hardly been able to put either one of them down...which is a good sign!

Yeah I really enjoyed The Mist Filled Path. I'm currently reading (again) Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
