After watching a CNN video about this, I am going to refer to ISIS as "Daesh" from now on. Anything that can possibly make them feel disrespected more is a fantastic thing in my opinion. Who's with me?!

What does it mean exactly?
It means the same thing as IS or ISIL, but I have heard it is close in sound at least to another word that more or less means "bigot". Not sure how true that is.

Negative connotation is that it rhymes with or sounds like other stuff in Arabic that's a bad word, apparently, particular "Daes" which means roughly the trample or crush something. There's another word I can't remember, but supposedly means something like "bringer of discord."

There are other names for these murderers that are a little more disrespectful. One that comes to mind cast aspersions on their sexual preference for herd animals.

Yeah, but there is no fun word play in that. Imagine, if NASA was a terrorist organization. Us English speakers who hate them (for this illustration) call them NASA, but when it's translated into Russian, the initials turn into STEVE. So STEVE attacks Russia, and Russia condemns STEVE. We Americans do too, but we still call them NASA, and us that don't like NASA, realize that NASA sounds a whole lot like ASSA. So all the English speakers start called NASA "ASSA" to insult them. But the Russians still say STEVE, however, they want to get in on the fun too, so they start calling what would normally be "STEVE" to them "ASSA."
That's essentially what is going on here.

Daesh is just the Arabic version of ISIS, they don't hate it. It literally means the same thing as ISIS/ISIL.

Have you read the news about this though? They are cutting out tongues of those who use it. How do you reconcile this?
