Daily healthcare costs

The greed never sleeps. Every nation that has successfully implemented a national health care system has realized that it has to find a way to stop price-gouging. That's how they keep the costs down in what is essentially a monopoly (pay or die) market. But those price caps (bulk billing as you all it) cuts directly into the profits of the capital investors, and they don't like it. So they'll do anything they can to stop it.

Amen!!
GP’s have been complaining about the lack of funding for bulk billing here for like 30 years now. And as prices only go up and up, they’ll likely complain more. And offer less bulk billing all around, angering both the public and indeed Doctors themselves. Who prefer preventative methods, I’m sure, as that is more scientifically sound.
But like I said, I doubt the public will allow such services to die without at least a decent fight. (At least I sincerely hope not!!!)
Though I think Universal healthcare is something supported by folks of all political stripes. So much like something like abortion, it can’t be used as a sort of “wedge issue” for voters like the US seems to use it. At least that’s what it appears from the outside. Apologies if I got that wrong

That said I think it’s like we take such services for granted sometimes. We need to be investing in that for the long run, imo. And far more vigilant about attempts to undermine it

I can only offer my longstanding sympathy for the US health care situation.

Here in the U.S. even the mention of ANY sort of price caps will bring on a massive fight from the capitalist owned media, politicians, and propagandists. It will be labeled "communism" and "insane government over-reach" and the spawn of satan himself. So I am sure they are going to do in your country whatever they can to chip away at whatever means your country uses to cap prices. And unfortunately, people are stupid, and easily turned against each other. So beware of the lies and blame-shifting that intends to turn the people against each other. If it's worked so well here, it can work, there.
Yes, I’ve seen such propaganda over the years. It confused me for a long time at first. As I’m sure it confuses a lot of the world with universal healthcare in some form. Because like I said, it’s a service we often take for granted. So to hear fear mongering over lowering healthcare prices is beyond weird for us to hear, I’m sure

The capitalists don't necessarily want to end the national social health care system. They'd love the idea of the government taking in money in the form of taxes, and giving it to them to provide the nation with health care. It'd be the monopoly of all monopolies! What business wouldn't want the power of government collecting their payments for them? All they really want to stop is the government limiting what they can charge for their services. Because that directly limits their profits, and undercuts the power of their monopoly.

So they don't want to derail the people's desire for national health care. They only want to stop the price caps placed on the cost of their products and services. So they can gouge the people for all they can get, and have the force of government to make them pay ... like in the U. S.
