We are endowed with reason and freedom of choice between right and wrong, thus we are raised to the status of a moral being as distinct from animals that can only follow their instincts.
And this I believe: that the free, exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in all the world. And this I would fight for: the freedom of the mind to take any direction it wishes, undirected. And this I must fight against: any idea, religion, or government which limits or destroys the individual
Thats why we must be thankful to our Creator who gives us a free will to choose and endows mans life with a moral meaning and a unique spiritual potential. Such is one aspect of dignity and honor that God bestowed on mankind:
Indeed, we have conferred dignity on human beings, and borne them over land and sea, and provided for them sustenance out of the good things of life, and favoured them far above the most of Our creation (Quran 17:70)
To run away from danger, instead of facing it, is to deny one's faith in man and God, even one's own self. It were better for one to drown oneself than live to declare such bankruptcy of faith.
