To any fans of Stephen Kings Dark Tower series. What do you think so far about the cast chosen for the movie?

The very notion of another wonderful Stephen King book being made into a movie makes me cringe and my heartache, as such movies have a tendency of consistently being some of the worst book-to-movie movies that I've seen. Misery was the only one I found anything enjoyable about, and that was only because Kathy Bates did psycho nuts crazy better than Jack Nicholson.

Yes, unfortunately the greatness of Stephens writing doesn't often translate well onto the movie screen. "IT" was a disaster. I thought "Salems Lot" was pretty good, but still no match for the book. His choice for the Man in Blacks character seems like a good choice. Idris Elba for Roland though? IDK. He's a good actor so wait and see I guess. I hope it is good, but like you I do have a bit of "cringe" due to past history of SK books to movie failures. I just started reading the series again. Outstanding. Impossible to put the books down once you start.

Don't remember any of these actors. It's been a while since I've watched movies except on rare occasion so it's not a surprise. I loved the Dark Tower back in the day I was thinking why can't they make this into a movie, hope it will not disappoint!

They should go ahead and fim books 6 and 7 before they do the second book, just in case Stephen dies too soon. Don't you agree? :p (I hope he reads this. Burn!)

It needs to be HBO series. :(
Afraid the movie will dilute it.

I agree with you about a series being a better way of adapting the Dark Tower, as opposed to movies. I love the books, and am still looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. I think Matthew Mcconaughey as the man in black is a fantastic casting choice!

See I like his books turned into movies but dont enjoy reading his books. I consider my self a reader. My favorite movie genre is horror.

Having this as a movie will only end in tears. Too much will have to be cut and most nuance will be sacrificed.

Sadly, I think you are right. I'm reading the series again and just don't see this ending well.
