I just got back from meeting a friend in Texas that I had meet online . I also have a friend in Seattle , and a family of friends in Vancouver that came from online meetings . We all met on a game forum , and had written for years before the meeting , so it may not quite be what you are asking about Jacquie ? For excample , the lady in Texas and I have been writing for close to 5 years before we met .

Never saw a pic of the lady in Texas before I met her . But I have found that many people start off with an older picture at frist , then as they become more comfortable , send more up-to-date pics .

Mostly , I have found them to be good experiences . Well , I still call them all friends so the experiences couldn't have been that bad .

Yes , I would do it again , and hope to asap . I have another penpal in Texas who I didn't get a chance to met on this trip . Plus a few others farther aflied . But as I have implied , these are people who I already consider friends . Just hadn't met in person yet .

I have had one good experience, and one bad one.

The good one is the relationship i am in now, and i agree with everyone, you have to be VERY CAREFUL!!!

Not all people out there are bad. But some of them are, and they are the ones you have to watch out for!

and i *have* met someone on-line!

he is my current best friend, and i'm very blessed to have met him.

we corresponded via e-mail for about three years- after which i arranged for him to come chill with me in indiana for a summer. it was a great, great summer, and i'm glad to have taken that chance.

he was much cuter than his photographs.

i have other friends i know on-line, and would love to meet them someday, too.
