Death preparation

KD,

You should make a will (note a LIVING WILL for real however, one that will stand ground, needs a lawyer, the attorney here in my area who has an office in Lafayette charges $325 dollars an hour, so heads up it won't be cheap).

Back to my post on the will and where I talk about the Devatas intervening, I am serious - there is nothing wrong in my logic or getting Their help, all I am asking is to DELAY the ding dong to give me enough time to get to Kashi fast. Yes, I will die anyway (thus no saving me from that), but this delay is for a good reason.

There can be other reasons, too. For example, pretend you have some vital information that could save the life of 100 Hindus about to be murdered by religious fanatics. Many have already been "rounded up" by the "authorities" and put in concentration camps. There are riots in the street. But you have the passports that will get these 100 Hindus out of Deathastan to Canada. But as you are manuvering the streets of Deathastan with the passports, the Death Police here and there, you start to have a heart attack. You ask Ganapati, hold it, save me now, I got to get the passports through.

And He does!

Wow that is expensive... not sure I can dot hat just yet. I will be looking for a new job soon. I have enough classes to become a preschool teach in a title 9 or title 22 class (private schools, and certain "public" schools). I am almost tempted to see about trying to get a job at some of the Private Christian preschools.

That is quit the way to look at things, never though of it that way.

Sorry, SB, he cannot save you from death of the physical body. He can, however, delay it.

Which 'you' are you referring to?

But yes, thanks for the information. I sort of figured that.

Sorry I guess we are interpreting eachother incorrectly. What I meant was exactly what you said, Ganeshji can only delay it. Of course not save from death of the physical body :) We have the same belief

Well, Ganeshji can do whatever he desires. He saved my brother and myself from drowning in a boat mishap. :)

Shiva is known to have imparted immortality to Markandeya rishi. But that I think is freedom from the sense of "I am this body".

In any case, for one graced by Shiva (or Ganesha), I do not know, as to what will be the body and what will be spirit?

Kalidas, the living will I have seems to parallel what your ideas are... simple cremation, no life support, cheap, no service, etc.

Same here. Any or all viable organs can be harvested; I am to be cremated in a simple cardboard or plywood box (or whatever the procedure is); no service except if anyone wants to come to see my ashes off in one of the tidal rivers. If I have no one left, the crematorium can do whatever their procedure is for "orphaned" ashes. Ideally I'd like my ashes sent to India since it looks like that's the only way I'm going to get there in this life.

The dead body among Hindus is washed with water (add some ganges water in that, even if a drop) and covered by a single length of white cloth (unstitched) on a stretcher-like thing made of two bamboo poles (arthi) with three protruding cross poles with which it is to be carried on shoulders. What else is required is 120 kg of wood (sometimes cow-dung cakes), some aromatic mixture (samagri), and 1 kg of clarified butter. The funeral attendant provides straw to light the fire. And some flowers if you so desire (optional). Funeral grounds at Manikarnika Ghat and Nigambodh Ghat in Varanasi and Delhi have been in business for thousands of years. There must be others toop in the country.
