Death

Everybody will experience bodily death. I speak quite freely about my own impending death, and it's obvious to me that some are quite unsettled in discussing the subject. Does it bother you to talk about your own death? Why?

No, doesn't bother me, we all die at sometime, it just part of life.

Should hubby or i become non functional we have arranged for Dignitas to do the deed. Should we live out our lives then local cremation it is.

What will come of your remains? Is this your own decision or the decision of one close to you? Do you think disposal of your body should be your decision or the decision of those left behind? Why?

I'll get burnt, poured into an urn and embedded in a wall in the cemetery overlooking the village.

I would actually prefer to be scattered in the forest but such disposal is illegal in France

This question is in two parts:

Yes, it bothers me, and not just for myself. The whole circle of life thing.

Cremation. I haven't gotten any farther than that on what to do with me. My dearly departed parent left so many instructions it was bewildering and I don't want to do that to my children so I've gone in the opposite direction, maybe too far and they'll all be standing around looking at each other saying, "what do you think mom wanted us to do?"

My own religion
?
I was under the impression you don't believe in facts.

Yes, I don't know if what happens when we die. As for facts, facts are to me a set of beliefs that apparently works. But I don't know if they are true or not, nor do I claim objective evidence or anything like that for what the world really is.

I do a weird mix of coherence, pragmaticism and deconstruction for truth and facts, but that is a sort of psychology to me. Or if you like also a variant of phenomenology. And then I am in a sense a weak irrationalist and absurdist, and religious in a sort of philosophical sense. :D

Cremation and dispersal of the ashes preferably in the sea is best. We don't need to hang on to our physical body or the remains. Burial just takes up land and is not of use to anyone.

Jai Mata Di!
It doesn't bother me to talk or think about my own death. I sort of think of death as the next step in a big adventure.

After I die, I would like for my organs to be donated if any of them are usable. If science wants anything that's left, they can have it. If not, I'd like to be cremated and have my ashes scattered in the Gulf of Mexico.

Sometimes, because I like not to think of it at times. But, it is most intriguing to think and talk about. We are explorers, and when we die, we will keep exploring. So exciting! I'm acutely aware that my unhealthy habits are hastening my life, so it just feelsbadman to talk about cuz I'm not in control yet.

I would like to be cremated and my ashes spread across the local sand dunes. I believe my spirit will merge with the desert mayhaps, idk. This is my decision.

I feel like the person dying should have a say what happens to their body. My father shudders at the idea of anything other than burial, it just would feel wrong cremating him, even if it's cheaper. I personally hate the idea of being trapped in a box underground for the rest of time, burn me up please. Ones spiritual beliefs often come into play when one decides on their own disposal, so it is important to respect.
