Define Evil...

Give us your definition of evil. Just remember evil doesn't have to be a noun, so you can still respond even if you don't believe in 'evil'.

Also, keep in mind that this is a discussion thread and not a debate thread.

'Evil' is a fallacy that sprang up when Greyface divided life using order/disorder as the essential positive/negative polarity, instead of creation/destruction. This allowed for man to (bravely? honourably?) endure the destructive aspects of order, and dismiss participation in the creative aspects of disorder.

'Good' is what is beneficial to life, and 'bad' beneficial to death. There is nothing that is not beneficial, either good and bad (and that's good). 'Evil' is an attempt to glorify destructive 'bad' as opposed to constructive 'bad', and therein lies the fallacy. There is no 'evil' in harm or death, the criminal or the villain, the volcano or tidal wave --a more sane outlook is to accept that creative order and creative disorder, assembly and disassembly, are both constructively good and bad. Life preservers through death, and death through life. The play of order and disorder comprises the perfection of the world.

I think I would define 'evil' as the deception that good is bad, or in other words, the corruption of good.

Can't brain. Has dumb.
Bad is that which you do not agree with. Evil is just that you disagree with it more strongly. Some people would also add that evil has an element of something outside of who is doing the action (like a devil, demon, whatever)

There is no evil, nor good, there's only our common opinion on how things should be. A cannibal doesn't consider wrong to eat another human while Europeans consider it a monstrosity. All people are egoists because even when we do something "good", we do it for making us feel better so are we noble or evil when we help others? Open your mind more than your place of birth. The way you are raised determines the way you behave. Religions try to prevent violence not evil. But if you insist on logical determination of evil I would say that the evil from the bible is human nature itself, because we are cruel, possessive and ignorant from birth only education and religion makes us more "humane"(peaceful).

I would agree with the belief that evil is the corruption of good. As a Christian I would argue that as God is ultimately Good (Whether he Created Good, or if good simply exists and God is Good), that Evil could also be defined as the corruption of the Will of God.

Evil is a cosmic force of consciousness whose sole purpose is to thwart the will of the god(s).

Or Sylvia Browne, take your pick.

I don't believe in either.

So there. Thhbbbppptttt.

I spent some thought about that specific question not long ago. What I came up with was that most ppl who do "bad" things don't know or won't agree that what they did was actually a bad thing.
u c, ppl sometimes get hurt by others because of the way they interpret their actions.
BUT when someone does an action that is wrong, and he knows it's wrong, and there will be no positive-effect* out of it whatsoever....that is pure bad. I think u can define it evil as well.

*by "positive-effect" I mean things which are more than personal gain on the material plane.
