Delay the Election ... ?

But...but...you knew exactly who he was way before he became President, that is a far cry from a 'nobody'. And going bankrupt is not a sign of failure; not trying again is when you fail. BTW, how many businesses have you started?
I have started two businesses in my life, none of them made me a millionaire :p

Not to mention:

Someone once say that criticism is the death-gargle of non-achievers. Since they never amount to anything, they just criticize those who succeed.

Great job! But they were successful because you stuck your neck out to make it happen.
Nope :) I made those businesses because I wanted to have fun and to be my own boss. The job in it self was not the problem, the marked disappeared after a few years.

I'd heard his name and never gave him another thought. Sort of like the Kardassians. I wouldn't be able to recognize one of them if you showed me a picture.

Before his run for the presidency, I knew Trump as some sort of rich guy who I could ignore.

He's been doing the opposite. If Trump were a dictator, he would have used Covid to take over (because it will never be easier than it was), but instead he said **** it, I'm not taking responsibility, and shirked as much of the fed responsibilities as he could onto the states.

He wants the celebrity of staying in power. He doesn't want to do the work of being in power. That is quite clear from the number of his golf outings, his ignoring intelligence briefings, and his refusal to take any responsibility.

Fortunately he does not have the power. Congress might but thank God for the Democratic House - there's no chance of any delay passing.
I wouldn't put it past them to possibly delay it.
But it seems highly unlikely.
Even if they did, it wouldn't be the end of the democratic republic.

That's a supremely generous characterization of his mental state. He's very consistent in wanting power and will say or do anything he can to hold onto it.
Were your speculation cromulent, we'd see him campaigning
for re-election more effectively. But I see him just flailing about.

He also refused to throw out a first pitch at a Yankees game stating that he's too busy taking care of the country or something along those lines. Funny how he doesn't have 5 minutes to throw a ball but he has 8 hours a day to watch TV. I'm guessing he's just scared of humiliating himself.

Trump tweets ...

With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???

Democracy is in the crosshairs.

He won't succeed in postpoining it, though, so it's really not worth worrying about IMO.

Well, he had invited himself to do that and maybe someone objected.

I have always described Trump as a wannabe Fascist. He is way too weak, stupid and incompetent to be a Fascist leader, but you can clearly see his desire and blatant attempts, and this is just one more on the list. Literally.
The 14 Characteristics of Fascism, by Lawrence Britt, Spring 2003

Of course it is not going to happen, and this tweet is not only evidence of his wannabe fascism, but also evidence of his incredible stupidity.

Including travel time, it would take far longer.
So it would significantly interfere with TV time.

I notice many people are focusing on his suggestion to delay the election.

But equally troubling is his assertion - without evidence - that the election will be the most fraudulent in history.

We can assume he will not challenge the outcome if he wins, but he will resurrect the charge of a fraudulent election if he loses. He is planting the seeds of the idea now, so if needed, it won’t be the first time his supporters are hearing it.

This is pretty despicable and dangerous.

We need to drain the swamp - ditch Trump 2020.

And if he loses he will whine and cry about if for the rest of his life. And about 30% of U.S. voters will believe the election was rigged. That is what is scary.

I believe you are exactly right. He is already setting himself as the victim of election fraud and would'nt be surprised if he has already put in place the legal options available to him to contest the election. Or he may simply walk away as did Johnson and others.

Trump faces rare rebuke from GOP for floating election delay

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump repeatedly tests the Republican Party’s limits on issues including race, trade and immigration. Now he has struck a boundary.

GOP officials from New Hampshire to Mississippi to Iowa quickly pushed back against Trump’s suggestion on Thursday that it might be necessary to delay the November election — which he cannot do without congressional approval — because of the unfounded threat of voter fraud. They reassured voters that the election would proceed on the constitutionally mandated day as it has for more than two centuries.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley was especially blunt: “All I can say is, it doesn’t matter what one individual in this country says. We still are a country based on the rule of law, and we want to follow the law.”
