Democrats only: Are there lessons to be learned for team Harris?

Personally because 3 democratic governers warned Biden that the southern border was an issue I believe Harris could have had a bit more political savvy and urged Biden to clamp down on the southern border sooner. I believe that even if the US needs migration sometimes in politics you have to not be too much of a moral crusader and have more of a willingness to listen to the public's concerns even if they are unfounded.

Considering the loathworthy opponent Harris had I personally feel this shouldn't have been such a close race in my view.

Thoughts?

I don’t know if I count; I’m actually registered NPP (no party preference) but I‘ve voted Democratic since 2012.

What I wish is that Biden would’ve kept to a single term.

I’m not really in a postmortem analysis mood at the moment, though … sure there were things they could have done differently, but in the end it wouldn’t have changed anything. Because this isn’t ‘normal’ politics.

But when they get started on “deconstructing the administration state“ it’s gonna be ugly.

But when they get started on “deconstructing the administration state“ it’s gonna be ugly.

A good article that explains why this threat is as dire as it is and why this country is basically screwed:

For years, conservatives have claimed that taking power from government agencies gives it back to the people. Yet while it might seem counterintuitive, Americans actually exercise their sovereignty through the administrative state.
...
Have you ever wondered why a green light means “go” in every state? In 1935, the Bureau of Public Roads – now the Federal Highway Administration – wrote and enforced its first Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways.
That’s the administrative state in action. It’s how 122 million people cooperated to make complex, modern society work – without surrendering their sovereignty to some dictator like Benito Mussolini or Josef Stalin.
The long and the short of it appears to be poor voter turnout. The sociopathic narcissist didn't get any more votes than they did before. Those who didn't care enough to prevent this country's full descent into an oligarchic authoritarian state simply didn't show up to vote.

Happily shopping at clean Amish stores, twice over the past few years we saw officials trying to dictate to them.
My understanding is the Amish usually or never vote, but because of the bad treatment they have been given over the past few years this time many Amish did vote to get her out

I consider myself an old school liberal (think Bill Maher). I don't know about Team Harris, but the Democrats need to learn that there's a reason 70+ million people have repeatedly voted for Trump and they need to learn why people did not come out for Harris. I'll provide details later.

By "repeatedly' you presumably mean twice. since his 2016 popular vote was roughly 63 million (and roughly 3 million less than Clinton's). His 2020 popular vote did indeed, exceed 70 million (actually 74.224 million), but proved to be about 7 million less than that received by Biden.

I'll provide details later.

Are you familiar with the word hubris?

Perhaps you're sitting on your couch and have all the time in the world. I'm busy and will provide details later. If you think that's hubris, I doubt there's anything I can say to change your mind (and, I don't particularly care).

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Are you a Democrat? Thread title warns this thread is for Democrats only.
No and are you sure it can be done this way? Because I am not. And are we checking to see if everyone is a registered Democrat? Because some have admitted they are not.

I agree on both counts. Still, you might wish to learn what you're talking about before threatening us with the sorry specter of you dishing out more of the same.
I know what I'm talking about. I was one of the only old school liberals here who correctly predicted the election.

Harris was a terrible candidate. She had an opportunity to distance herself from some of Biden's failures, but instead she just followed the DNC's mantra of 'Trump is a fascist and we need unrestricted abortion."

Life for most Americans is more complicated.

IMHO

Fail

You are under the impression that being loathworthy makes one have less votes, but as I see it that is from true. Trump election numbers keep going up every election cycle. This can only mean the average republican feels properly represented by him.

I think that @Quintessence nailed it. The Democratic party simply wasn't able to get their own supporters to vote. So, I don't think the borders had anything to do with it.

Yes, there are lessons to be learned, but the democrats will not learn them.

They lost this election because they will not fight for the American people against the giant greedy corporate conglomerates that are price-gouging and strangling the majority of the people, economically. Instead, they try to win on social issues and self-righteousness, and it just doesn’t work.

They will not stand up for the people and face the real enemy. And everyone knows it. So their self-righteous social issue stance just comes off as weak and phony.

The truth be told we lost this country way back in the 80s when we let Reagan and his evil neo-cons convince us all that the government is our enemy, and that big business was our savior. Once we bought that lie, we‘d sold ourselves down the river of greed and stupidity. The corporations and their billionaire owners became our new overlords, and our government became just a theater of the absurd, meant to distract us and give us faces to blame for our own weakness and stupidity.

And cowardice.
