hello,

something has been bothering me. now, im not against Christians or Muslims, but what i am against are the anti-atheist people. It seems that there are many people out there who see that one atheist does something wrong and then blame it all on atheism, when atheism didnt do it, the person did it. so please stop saying that atheism is bad or poison, because even too much anti atheism is poison.

thank you.

Oh wait...I just realized this is a forum where we're supposed to say how we feel about out point of view as well as others' points of view. [Emily Latella voice] Never mind.

*Whew* good thing no one said that atheism is poison.

I'm sick of these anti-anti-religionists! Not to mention the anti-anti-antis! Stop blaming all the anti-anti-anti-anti-atheists for everything that one lousy anti-anti-anti-religionist did! Enough!

I have a very good Friend who is an atheist, he owns a newspaper and is highly intelligent, we discuss many topics .... however religion is not one of them... !!!
If I make him argue with me he reinforces his position through the arguement .... I just pray for him !!!!

What's stupid is the lack of respect. And the ad hominem statements.

Why izzit that many atheists can't resist the non-argument: "It's all superstition?"
And why izzit that many Fundies can't resist the non-argument: "You just haven't seen it yet?"

I have a very good friend who's patently atheist. We discuss religion all the time. We don't always agree, but he respects my POV, and I respect his, because we don't result to non-arguments and ad hominem attacks.

Atheism is one way to look at the world. Religion is another. It's just that simple. No one's "right" and the other "wrong" in our judgment, for none of us is qualified to make such a judgment.

The prejudism you find against atheists is also true of religious people. There are many Christians who receive unjust prejudice based on the actions of other Christians, and so on and so forth regarding other religions.

Too many people, religious or otherwise, feel that they know, exclusively, the right path, and all others are wrong. And, when faced with facts and reasons to dispute their "right" or "correct" argument that they cannot argue with, they fall back on insults and calling the opposing person's religion or point of view "wrong" or "bad". A person's point of view or philosophy on life is very important to them, and they don't like it when it's proven wrong, or proven to be one of many possibilities.

And, frankly, there are many religions that teach that you are damned if you don't believe in said religion's god, and therefore everything else is evil. Many atheists believe that all religions are evil because to enforce not only morals, but an entire way of life down to somebody's sex life they consider oppressive. I don't agree with religion on many levels and for many reasons, but I'm not going to go about trolling either.

Anyways, my point is that some people can't take criticism and just start shouting "You're wrong! What you believe is evil because it's not what I believe!" I apologize for taking so long to make my point. I'm a bit long winded and tend to get carried away :p

Unjust prejudice? Can you give me an example of a "just" prejudice?

Atheists do not claim to know for certain, nor do agnostics. Atheists just think theists are probably wrong.

I would say it is more to do with standards of evidence. A theist cannot meet an atheist's standard of evidence. And an atheist does not carry a burden of proof as an atheist does not say "God definitely does not exist", but "God probably does not exist".

Sorry, I don't accept Bible verses or "faith" as conclusive evidence.

Is calling out certain religious beliefs as oppressive "trolling" now?

Nothing wrong with being long-winded. It means people give up faster trying to figure out what the Hell you're talking about.

Quit nitpicking, that was just an example of my fingers moving at a different rate than my brain.

There's a difference between calling somebody out and going through forums typing "Christianity is evil! Islam is evil" with no sound reasoning. I'm not here to start fights, but I'll debate in a reasonable and rational manner.

All of your other posts, CM, I agree with, and see no reason to quote them and say "I agree".

Quit making excuses, sissy. (To any spectators: We know each other IRL :p)

It wouldn't take much reasoning to point out the above. It's not a stretch of the imagination.

Yes-man.
