Well, let's see: in other Detroit news today:
Detroit man charged in triple homicide targeting LGBTQ community: 2 gay men, 1 transgender woman murdered

We are less than 10 days into Pride month, and I've seen increased news stories (like the one above, and the story of the lesbian couple being beaten on the bus by a group of young men) and personal anecdotes from friends about violence towards LGBTQ+ folks. :(
In D.C someone shot a gun near a LGBT event (he was arrested) which caused the crowd to panic, then there are the "Straight Pride" counter marches going on near LGBT events and here in Los Angeles we have a big police presence on the streets to prevent anything happening at any of the LGBT event because there have been threats.

From my understanding there were no gunshots. People misidentified a loud noise:

You can open carry in Michigan only if your intentions are lawful. It is clear that their intentions were not even close to being lawful. The purpose was to intimidate and threaten. Their discriminatory harassment of the LGBT community was explicit but their making terrorist threats was implicit by them carrying guns even if they didn't point them at people or verbally threaten to shoot people. The point of the guns was to produce an intimidating and threatening atmosphere
Carrying guns is not sufficient reason for using the term terrorist. There is sufficient grounds to establish intimidation and harassment, but not necessarily terrorism.

Yes, they arrested a man with a BB gun, but they do not make any noise to speak of. That would not cause an audible gunshot.
Yup. You can't hear much from a BB gun shooting it in the woods. In a crowded and noisy area you aren't going to hear anything.

This whole thing kinda reminds me of
MAGA hat wearing teen stalks and harasses Native American veteran.
Tom
Oh, but that didnt actually happen as the fake news put it and the context isnt right and the MAGA hat means nothing and theyr good friends anyways and quit unfairly hating on Trump.

The question is, how were they intimidating? Being armed is no more illegal than being a large menacing looking person. It is actions that count. One cannot read the minds of others.

By calling the LGBT derogatory names, pissing on both the gay pride and Israeli flag, shouting Heil Hitler among others things can be pretty intimidating plus not only did they have guns but also shields and a batons.

They show up to a peaceful demonstration to protest it while armed, making it clear they're armed, and while verbally harassing people. They were already harassing attendees, and if doing that while armed isn't enough to establish intimidation I don't know what is.

Yeah, that's not how they work. At most BB guns make a faint "poof" sound from the compressed air projecting the ball bearing. Now, if you have an air gun, you will hear those but they don't sound like a gun shooting an explosive-propelled bullet (and thus won't be mistaken for one).

Now you are being unreasonable. Plus I do believe that he had just a BB handgun.. The effect would almost certainly be markedly less.
According to witnesses there was a man with what they thought was a gun and in the same vicinity they heard a "pop-pop" sound. I want to believe those witnesses. We just have to wait for what the police find out about this.

A BB handbun does not make a "pop-pop" sound. And it sounds as if they have it figured out. It seems that a partner of gay man was being beat up and he pulled a BB gun:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...2795fca3343_story.html?utm_term=.6d1b1e9e4104

"A man with a BB gun angry at another man for hitting his partner allegedly set off events that led hundreds of people to flee the Capital Pride Parade in Washington on Saturday, fearing a mass shooter, D.C. police said Sunday."

"D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) said shortly afterward that “there were no shots fired.” D.C. police Cdr. Guillermo Rivera added in an evening press conference, “We had officers close by, and at this point there’s no evidence of any gunshots.” '

"Singh “claimed he pulled the gun out on an unidentified individual who was hitting his significant other,” Officer Blaise Maio wrote in a police report, adding that Singh claimed it was a BB gun.

“I’ll be back. I’ll shoot that m***** f*****,” Singh said as was taken away by police, the officer wrote."

So no hate crime here. At least that is some good news.

With a BB gun? Is the man mad? A BB can hurt, but the guy can probably punch harder. Or a pistol whip with the gun. Thats certainly more effective than a BB. Unless you want to put an eye out.
