Did God control Dark Ages.. or was it just fate?

In the Dark Ages there were kings, upon rulers, upon popes who tried to stop a movement that would one day sweep the world. That was freedom, the idea that a man could think for himself, and that the people were the supreme power.

So my question is, did God have a hand in this, or was it just fate? Oh, and by the way the Pope was NOT God's representative, so don't even go there. :angel2:

Which dark age are you referring to.?

The usual one is from the fall of Rome in Europe from about AD500 to the mid middle age
about the year AD1000 It is characterised by a paucity of historical detail, and a more backward society than left by the Romans.

Christian God must have forgotten about the two pieces of land with the most population, India and China, during that period if He has a hand in anything, He just ignored those two lands? Or are those gentiles there their hearts have been hardened by Him and will not accept him anyway?

"Dark Ages" is an ethnocentric term used by "western" culture to describe the situation in certain parts of Europe. Much of the world (i.e. Islam) was doing just fine.

I would give 5:1 odds that any person from the 'Dark Ages' who had a chance to look in on us 'Enlightened Ones' of the modern age would be happy to return to their own plight. History is written by the winners. We can impose any refaction we choose on something that happened in the distant past.

Yeah, I'm sure that the average serf would choose an ingnorant wretched life with barely enough food to live rather than to have at least a shot at health care, education, and some sustinance.

Sadhu Singh, the Christian mystic from India was invited to America and left within days. He was horrified by the gross materialism and declared that he had never been to a country steeped in more blindness. Of course, he was an ascetic. The values of a greater society usually tend to run toward comfort, wealth and power across the board.
