1 Peter was originally written in Koine Greek, not English, so looking at the nuance of the original word would help. The word translated "hope," elpis, means "properly, expectation of what is sure." It's not about wanting but about expecting, a nuance that can be missed, considering how we commonly use the term. The passage means you should give a reason why you hope/expect/trust/are confident that the faith you follow is true. No, it’s simply saying that I hope it’s true, even though it can’t be proven. It’s the same as our own afterlife. There’s no proof for it, but we hope it’s true nonetheless, and we live our faith-lives as if it’s true. My reasoned defense is of the hope, not the resurrection. That’s what the passage says.
Yes, but the nuance of expectation is still about wanting. It's not like the expectation that a hammer will fall when dropped. It's more the expectation that the hammer won't land on your bare pinky toe. The Greek goddess of hope was Elpis. When Pandora opened the box, all the spirits escaped, except for Elpis -- Hope -- who stayed behind to comfort humanity. That's the essence of the Greek form of hope. Therefore, the passage is about the expectation that our faith will serve us well.1 Peter was originally written in Koine Greek, not English, so looking at the nuance of the original word would help. It's more than hope for me. I am convinced, by the action of the Holy Spirit in my life, that Christ rose from the dead. Why do you hope it's true?
I see. The Holy Spirit also “convinces” some of a flat earth, too. It's more than hope for me. I am convinced, by the action of the Holy Spirit in my life, that Christ rose from the dead.
There is none, theres just as much proof for Spiderman as for Jesus, thats the point. There's no proof any group saw jesus rise from the dead.Could I have a source for examination?

No, the devil and stupid heathens do that.
Of course. However, I was answering your question, which was...I see. The Holy Spirit also “convinces” some of a flat earth, too.
Edit: not knocking your faith; I’m just pointing out that the Holy Spirit is ineffable and doesn’t do much for evidence where third party confirmation is necessary.
It appears all the apostle were willing to hold that belief till death

"Crucifixion but being taken down and surviving....."I don't think so..........
Thomas may not have been doubting any resurrection, he may been doubting that Jesus was alive, until he saw the wounds in the live man?
There are a few possibilities........
Execution to death........
Crucifixion but being taken down and surviving.....
Not being executed at all......
After all, a Jesus Son of the Father who led a riot within Jerusalem (and probably the Temple) was so loved by the people that they campaigned for his release, which he received. Oh yes.
But somehow Christians removed his first name from later copies of the gospels, and speeled his last name in Eastern Aramaic. Barabba= Son of the Father. Jesus Son of the Father was relreased. Did you ever hear of him, and his large following?
And don't think that the disciples believed in that. The apostles (those who wrote the gospels) weren't witnesses, of course, only young Mark and he wasn't at the Tomb.
I see. The Holy Spirit also “convinces” some of a flat earth, too.
not according to the flat earthers. Who are you to decide whether the HS is speaking to someone? Who died and placed you in charge of Spiritual Discernment in Others? No, the devil and stupid heathens do that.
"There's no proof any group saw jesus rise from the dead."
I agree with one here.
Instead of the Holy Ghost, as I understand, the Evil Spirit seized Saul of Tarsus to fake a vision and to support it was told that Jesus had risen to the sky and sat on the right hand of G-d and many people saw him, without identifying the persons.
I understand that Jesus did not go to heaven, he just went up the hill filled with the clouds and went to the other side of the hill on the path that lead him out of the domain of the Roman rule.
Regards

Acts 1
"9After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”"
Acts 1 NIV
I reckon you are Satan's henchman, you are dragging Christianity through the sewer, he must be so proud of you.
There's no proof any group saw jesus rise from the dead.
You are the devil's mouthpiece! No, the devil and stupid heathens do that.
You are the devil's mouthpiece!
Who is the liar and the antichrist according to scripture?
"Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son." - 1 John 2:22
