I concur with you 100% about 'fad diets', and I use that term for any diet that tells you to eliminate a food group or that does not emphasize exercise over diet. Fad diets may give you quick results, but they fail because when you don't eat as much, your body's metabolism drops. Then when you go off the diet, you gain the weight back almost as quickly, especially for people who do not increase their exercise level.gracie said:...diets can be good, and i do think that most Americans need to change the way they eat. i just get worried about "fad diets", though.
In the past 2 years, working with my HMOs health advisor, I have dropped from 280 to 240, and I've graduated down 2 pants sizes. I make sure I eat something in the morning, and I don't 'pig out' at any meal. Like Unedited said, stop eating when you're no longer hungry. It sounds simple but a quick scan of an average crowd at the mall or any public place tells me a lot of people could do more.)(
