Why can we not accept that other may believe different then our self?

Instead of then trashtalking down a person who believe (one who did not creat the religion), why not ask polite why do you belive this is correct?

And most importantly, can it be that what is written and what is done in action is not one and the same? Yes i know in some Religious texts there is written about killing those who not belive, but those it mean we should actually do it or does it mean converting them from their belief?

Why can we not accept that other may believe different then our self?

Because most are desperately holding on to the one bit of evidence they think is the right direction, and as they're not sure, they fight to defend it.

I sense your frustration, but unfortunately everyone has different standards and many of the pleasantries and protocols from the past seem to be no longer as important as they once were. We seem to be going through a phase where shouting someone down or "de-platforming" them has begun to replace discussion and healthy debate.

I suppose that the only thing we can really do is to try not to do it ourselves and to buck the trend. For example, I am perhaps one of the most "anti-Islam" people here on RF and yet, I count several Muslims here as friends. What is that old line? You attract more with honey than you do with vinegar or something like that. It doesn't cost much to be nice, but sadly, being nice in many place won't get you too far these days.

Thank you for your good answer I dont know if i can call it frustration, but i do wornder why we must be angry or do wrong to others to feel good. I try to be honest about how i see things and if i disagree with someone, i do ask them why they think or believe what they do. But sometimes my curiousity get me in trouble when i ask the wrong question in the wrong time.

Another thing that is sometimes a problem is that most of the regular posters on RF are strong native English speakers whereas many posters are ESL (English as 2nd language) and many times the ESL folks are unable to speak clearly and don't understand the nuances of dialogue.

Thank you for your good answer I dont know if i can call it frustration, but i do wornder why we must be angry or do wrong to others to feel good. I try to be honest about how i see things and if i disagree with someone, i do ask them why they think or believe what they do. But sometimes my curiousity get me in trouble when i ask the wrong question in the wrong time.

As long as you are honest, this old "strong" atheist will never push back too hard. These is also a fine line between people attacking a cherished belief we have and feeling WE are under attack. We identify so strongly with the idea that we take it as a personal attack when people mock or vigorously question us about it. The art is to try to not be combative.

Stating you disagree with another's belief isn't attacking it, it's just being realistic and honest with yourself, and with them. Unfortunately, some people will take that as a personal attack. Most of us do live in countries where there is freedom of religion, after all.

That is true. But often i see specially Christians and Muslims "attacking" each others belief and does not talk good about each others.

What i think try to get out with my OP is, Not all Religious people do good or right all the time. But it is wrong to say example that all people from one religion is evil or wrong doers.
As a Buddhist i know i do something wrong every day, so i must try better my self But i do try not to correct others. But sometimes i fail in my way of saying it and i get corrected my self. and yes that can hurt sometimes. But it is a lesson learned

@Amanaki I just had a situation! I was in the bathroom combing my hair and heard an odd scratching from the toilet area. We keep watering cans by the toilet so that if we have a power failure we can still flush. Anyways, I look down into one of them and a silly little mouse has decided to go swimming. He cannot get back out though.

Grab the watering can, gingerly walk to the back door, and take it outside away from the house and set it down on its side. From the porch, I saw him scamper away and I thought of you! I knew you would like that. (It's still dark here right now. Cold and frosty too!)
