So which are more real? I mean, we have at least anecdotal accounts of miracles and stuff, but we can't see God typically. But we have "fossils" of dinosaurs, which are possibly fake.

Also, everyone here must do a Land Before Time marathon. Yup yup yup.

I've pretty much renounced use of the word "God," so I won't be commenting on that.

But if dinosaurs are fake, I suppose birds are fake as well, since they're descendants of dinosaurs.

I'm watching The Land Before Time, parts 1-7 or so, on account of missing my cat, and needing something mindless. And yes, I can definitely tell you that it is cute and entertaining. I can also tell you that the series is probably not good food for impressionable young minds, since along with dinosaurs, along with talking/singing dinosaurs, along with in at least one episode dinosaurs coexisting with simple mammals like squirrels, the message of the story is the same trite multiculturalism that is so sickening 2010 or so onward. "We can all live together in harmony" even though some of the group are legit meat eaters, and the story ends before adulthood for a good reason. Their sharptooth buddy Chomper would quickly find bugs aren't enough, and eat all of his "friends."

But it got me thinking, just how real are these dinosaurs?

Well, the Archaeopteryx turned out to be a hoax, but we can trust our other fossils right? Well...

When did dinosaurs live?

Dinosaurs lived about about 245 to 66 million years ago.

The thing is, these fossils are made of bones, but the oldest of these are only 2.8 million years old, not 66 million.

https://www.scienceabc.com/humans/skeleton-mystery-dont-bones-decay-decompose.html

The problem with these mineralized bones is that they are no different from stones that have been sculpted into the shape of skulls or teeth or whatever else. The other problem is that even fossils eventually get ground to dust meaning that tens or hundreds of millions of year pass and there is not even bone-shaped stones remain.

So then, if there aren't real fossils, what exactly is this?

In simplest terms, a moneymaking scheme. After all, these "bones" which are at best only able to be dated with carbon dating up to 95000 years (not even 1 million), after which it is impossible to find either intact genetic material or a sufficient about of carbon. So they're paying for plastic casting, and bits of rock, or strung together bones of more recent animals cobbled together through sketchy techniques.

Ignoring all of your other silliness....they do not carbon date dinosaur bones, They are too old for carbon dating.

Dinosaurs were called dragons first and then only dinosaurs for the last 200-150 years or so.

Your poll is a trick question. Nothing is more real than God. Everything else is illusion compared to Him.

He created this universe and are as thoughts emanating from His infinite mind. The Word of God upholding or making exist everything that is real.

Actually there isn't anything that 's 'more real' than anything else. Either something is real or it is not real.

One of my most sincere wishes is that those who wish to have a discussion bolstering their religious beliefs would just do it. Pretending to be discussing matters of science -- without actually discussing science at all -- is disingenuous, betraying the ulterior motive.

This quote is exemplary:
"The problem with these mineralized bones is that they are no different from stones that have been sculpted into the shape of skulls or teeth or whatever else. Everything in those two paragraphs has been much more than adequately explained -- the process of fossilization isn't even remotely mysterious. So, instead of trying to lead people to believe they're being lied to, you should do what anybody really interested would do: look at the evidence, evaluate that evidence based on anything that is well known to you, propose a hypothesis that explains that evidence, then do whatever tests you can conceive of to test your hypothesis -- and when your tests seem to validate you hypothesis, report on it.

I did. Victim of autocorrect. I’ll fix the post. Nice catch.
We've all been the victims of autocorrect.

One of the funnier ones I've seen (from an otherwise VERY intelligent and normally careful posters there) talked about how Mormons believed in a 'fiesta' god that bore no relationship to the God of the Bible (I said she was intelligent and normally careful. I didn't say she agreed with me OR that she was right...). I'm not sure now what word or phrase she was going for, but it doesn't matter. I want to frame that one.

Any really famous sculptors cited as the artists of said carved rocks?

Fame is an inadequate word for such
genius.
My step dad was a geologist, influenced
my interests.

I have been to badlands in Montana and Wyoming
and seen fragments scattered all about,
and bones in situ.

The Satanic Sculptor not only
carved them inside solid rock
but, carved the fine structure inside
the bones,
AND then filled the
pores with hard clear minerals!

In the purple dimension, anyway.

In Montana they are natural.

Meet Kan, a neighbour of mine, moved to Marqueyssac in 2017, only about 10km up the road from where i live. Kan is a remarkably complete Allosaure fossil.

At 1:28 you can see the road leading to the village i live, if thats of any interest

Very interesting.

Very nice.

Looks like a Nice neck of the woods.

As for Kan, I still say let the dead bury the dead.

Because people didn’t know what these fossils were.

I am just glad that we (today’s “we”) no longer call them “dragons”.

Today, we call the lizards from one of the Lesser Sunda islands, Indonesia - Komodo dragons - but these too are not dragons from myths and folklore.

You have to remember in Jesus’ times and Jews before him (pre-Christian Jews), that people were superstitions enough to think the stars we see in the night sky were angels, and it were angels pushing and pulling the sun, moon and clouds around the sky.

That was then, this is now.

Where do you get your information from? You need to find better sources. Archaeopterx is not a hoax. Dinosaurs that you are talking about went extinct 65 million years ago. The fossil record is not faked.

What? Sculpted stones? This is all pure fantasy.
