What a meanie! Why would the omnibenevolent God feel the necessity to have two bears viciously maul little children for acting like children?
It's not only one verse.
In Genesis we read that Adam and Eve rebelled against their creator and therefore lost their source of life becoming imperfect mortals. All their descendants inherited their imperfection. However God decided to send someone to undo the consequences of sin as stated in Genesis 3:15 "will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel."
Later on God made a covenant with Abraham and promised him that the savior would come through his line of descent (Genesis 17:19).
The arrival of the Messiah was mentioned in different parts of the old testament such as Isaiah 7:14, Daniel 9:25,26 and Micah 5:2.
You can find scriptures about Jesus being the savior in Luke 2:11, 2 Tim 1:10, Titus 1:4, Romans 8:1,2, John 1:29, etc.
Of course this only makes sense to people who believe that Jesus was the son of God and the Messiah.
The Old Testament is about the Father, the New Testament is about the Son. Who knows, maybe God will have a Daughter next.
Christian verses obviously don't count here.
Isaiah 7:14 is about Emmanuel, Isaiah's son, - Not Jesus.

Matthew 1:22-23 uses isa 7:14 to show a prophecy about jesus birth but the prophecy is not about that. The seventh chapter of isa 7:1 begins by describing the syro-ephraimite war, a military crisis that threatened ahaz, king of the southern kingdom of judah. The story; isa 7:1-16 In about the year 732 B.C.E. the House of David was facing imminent destruction at the hands of two warring kingdoms: the northern Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Syria. These two armies had laid siege to Jerusalem. The Bible relates that the House of David and King Ahaz were gripped with fear. Accordingly, God sent the prophet Isaiah to reassure King Ahaz that divine protection was at hand the Almighty would protect him, the deliverance of his citizens was assured, and the formidable armies of Syria and the Northern Kingdom of Israel would fail in their attempt to subjugate Jerusalem. Its not a virgin birth more than 700 years later. 2 kin 15-16 its clear that this prophecy was fullfilled contemporaneously, when both kings, pekah and restin were assassinated. This prophecy was referring to the divine protection that king ahaz and his people would enjoy during the syro-ephramite war. The child will be called emmanuel (meaning god with us).. and "before the boy will know enough to refuse evil and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread will be foresaken (Isa 7:16). GET IT? Also, how could this prophecy apply to jesus where the prophecy continues isa 7:15-16. In (Isaiah 8:3-4), a prophetess gives birth to a son--Maher-shalal-hash-baz--(which means ...quick to plunder, swift to the spoil.. who is clearly described as the fulfillment of the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14.[3]
Not sure why you are telling me this.
You could be using my work and translations. I translated Maher-shalal-hash-baz as quick to plunder, swift to the spoil, here on this board.
