Not only are there many who do not, but the word "illusion" is misleading if it appears to apply something bad. The point behind the world "illusion" or "maya" is that the world is transient, which means it changes and nothing in the world is permanent. Flowers wither and die, Children are born and grow old etc. All this can lead to pain and disappointment if we think it should be permanent and it isn't

To find the permanent truth one needs to find the permanent atman in oneself. This permanent truth is Atman-Brahman or God, which resides in all hearts. To be sure of God and find God for oneself, there are different methods. One method is to mentally negate all that is transient and full of change through "neti neti" method. Once this is complete the aspirant will find that the permanent truth is one's true nature. With this bliss will arise. The universe will still exist.

So illusion refers to the changing transient nature of the universe, it does not mean the universe is an illusion in itself because for an illusion to be known there must be something which is NOT an illusion i.e. you, the observer, and that which is permanent and true is divine truth (Atman-Brahman). This is my personal explanation (and that of others) and it may raise more questions :)

Creation is real, we just don't see it as it is. Just as Arjuna didn't see Lord Krishna as He really is until Arjuna was given Divine Sight. The he saw Sri Krishna's true form. It's the same way with us. Our sight is limited, so we don't see what creation really is.

dependant on the level of understanding each of us beleive differently !

however ....

The creation is real... our attachment to creation and created things over God is 'illusion' or maya.

I am in agreement with gaura priya " CREATION IS REAL " .....and that ..."our ATTATCHMENT to creation and CREATED THINGS OVER GOD is 'illusion' or maya "
is a very nice way of putting it !

one could allso say that "creation is real" .....but that it is our perception of that creation that is illusuory .
therefore THE CREATION WE PERCEIVE IS AN ILLUSION ! but creation itself is real :D

Good point Ratikala. There's real, and there's Real.

There are the coherent, palpable impressions of things, created in our 3-D minds as useful abstractions to help us navigate an 11-D multiverse.
then there is the Real but currently imperceptible quantum Reality of the Real "creation."

I am just curious.

creation is real , dissolution is real , it is the cycle of life on a universal scale , it is happening all the time .

I dont know how exactly you would inturpret the christian understanding of the words "the lord giveth and the lord taketh away"
from a sanatana dharmist point of veiw the lord is constantly giving and taking , that principle applies to all matter , universes and beings alike .

illusion is just the veil through which we veiw every thing .
