do Christians and Muslims believe Satan is a physical person or invisible being?

A Shaytan is any being with free will and Free thought that does evil and leads others to do the Same.

The Being often called Satan is a Djinn named Iblis that is a Shaytan.

He is probably still alive and roaming the earth, but not seen by mankind. Or rarely if he ever has been. There is no need for him to be seen, he is able to lead through temptations, which are the most effective tool used to lead humans into evil

you said any being can be a Satan that has freewill, any human being ?

because you also said he can't be seen, so iam confuse as to what kind of being with freewill you are referring

The Bible reveals Satan is a spirit and once a son of God, (Job 1:6,7)
He allowed pride and arrogance develop in his heart, just as humans can allow these bad traits to develop. (James 1:14,15)

All Humans are capable of being a Shaytan. Probably the most dangerous Shaytan any of us will ever meet is our self. Our greatesr enemy is not other people or being but our own inner thoughts and temptations. The Battle we fight against opur own inner evils is the greater Jihad and the Jihad all humans face and must defeat.

Iblis (Satan) is invisible to humans unless he desires us to see him. Most Djinn are not evil and desire to avoid all contact with Humans. The Djinn are mid-way between Humans and angels, while they have some angel like abilities they are mortal like humans and like humans are capable of doing good and evil. While they do share the earth with us they are on a different plane or dimension. Not detectable to Humans. sort of a spiritual existence.

can you be more clear if any being can be a Satan because they have free will, can a human being be a Satan because they have freewill?

Yes, a being has to have free will to be a Shaytan. It is a matter of choice. Muslims believe the only creatures we know of, that can be Shaytan are Human's and Djinn. There may be others but at the moment the only creatures we know that have free will are Humans and Djinn.

iblis was one of the satans not the Satan, how do you know that that Satan that whisper to Adam was iblis and not another Satan?

I don't know. The Qur'an does not dwell much on the Shaytan in the Garden. Iblis is mentioned 19 times in the Qur'an and none are about him whispering to Adam

Al-Baqara (The Cow)

2:34 (Asad) And when We told the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam!" [25] -they all prostrated themselves, save Iblis, who refused and gloried in his arrogance: and thus he became one of those who deny the truth. [26]

Al-A'raf (The Heights)

7:11 (Asad) Yea, indeed, We have created you, and then formed you; [9] and then We said unto the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam!" - whereupon they [all] prostrated themselves, save Iblis: he was not among those who prostrated themselves. [10]

Al-A'raf (The Heights)

7:12 (Asad) [And God] said: "What has kept thee from prostrating thyself when I commanded thee?" Answered [Iblis]: "I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, whereas him Thou hast created out of clay."

Al-A'raf (The Heights)

7:14 (Asad) Said [Iblis]: "Grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead."

Al-A'raf (The Heights)

7:16 (Asad) [Whereupon Iblis] said: "Now that Thou hast thwarted me," [11] shall most certainly lie in ambush for them all along Thy straight way,

Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract)

15:31 (Asad) save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. [27]

Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract)

15:32 (Asad) Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?"

Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract)

15:33 (Asad) [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!"

Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract)

15:36 (Asad) Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!"

Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract)

15:39 (Asad) [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, [29] I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them-into grievous error -

Al-Isra (The Journey by Night)

17:61 (Asad) AND LO! We said unto the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam"-whereupon they all prostrated themselves, save Iblis. [75] Said he: "Shall I prostrate myself before one whom Thou hast created out of clay?"

Al-Kahf (The Cave)

18:50 (Asad) AND [remember that] when We told the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam," [52] they all prostrated themselves, save Iblis: he [too] was one of those invisible beings, [53] but then he turned away from his Sustainer's command. Will you, then, take him and his cohorts [54] for (your], masters instead of Me, although they are your foe? How vile an exchange on the evildoers' part! [55]

Ash-Shu'ara (The Poets)

26:95 (Asad) and the hosts of Iblis - all together. [44]

Saba' (Sheba)

34:20 (Asad) Now, indeed, Iblis did prove that his opinion of them had been right: [29] for [when he called them,] they followed him - all but some of the believers [among them].

Suad

38:74 (Asad) save Iblis: he gloried in his arrogance, and [thus] became one of those who deny the truth. [57]

Suad

38:75 (Asad) Said He: “O Iblis! What has kept thee from prostrating thyself before that [being] which I have created with My hands? [58] Art thou too proud [to bow down before another created being], or art thou of those who think [only] of themselves as high?” [59]

Suad

38:76 (Asad) Answered [Iblis]: “I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, [60] whereas him Thou hast created out of clay.”

Suad

38:79 (Asad) Said [Iblis]: “Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!”

Suad

38:82 (Asad) [Whereupon Iblis] said: “Then [I swear] by Thy very might: I shall most certainly beguile them all into grievous error –

Adding to the above Satan is mentioned 69 times. The Garden instance is mentioned in 2 Ayyat

Then Satan whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said: "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals." (Al-A'raf 7:20)

Then Satan whispered to him, saying : "O Adam! Shall I lead you to the tree of eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?" (Ta-Ha 20:120)

From what I understand is that most scholars are under the belief that since it is used as a name there it must mean a specific Satan and the only Satan we know by name at that time was Iblis, so it is Iblis being referred to

you believe that iblis was a Satan, the Qur'an saids iblis was cast out of paradise, are you saying that this same iblis Satan was still able to whisper to Adam in paradise even though he was supposed to have been expelled?

No where does anything in the Qur'an indicate Iblis was cast out before Adam. I gave you the 19 Ayyats Iblis is mentioned in, do any of them give a time frame as to when he was cast out?

said, "Descend from it, for it is not for you to be arrogant therein. So get out; indeed, you are of the debased. 7:14

this happened at the time the angels were to bow to Adam, so Adam was still in paradise .

the verse saids iblis was casted out while Adam was not cast out yet.

but if iblis is suppose to be that Satan, how was he still able to whisper to Adam in pardise?

You have to read a bit further. Iblis was given a reprieve. He was not cast out

The Translation I am using has a slight difference in the line numbers, This is because the Translation I am using Did not count the "Bismillah" as line one. The Translation you used does. Some publishers count it some don't. The line numbers are not part of the Qur'an and are not found in Qur'ans Written in the original Arabic. You will also find in different translations there are differences in wording. Arabic does not translate exactly into other languages.

7:11 (Picktall) And We created you, then fashioned you, then told the angels: Fall ye prostrate before Adam! And they fell prostrate, all save Iblis, who was not of those who make prostration.

7:12 (Picktall) He said: What hindered thee that thou didst not fall prostrate when I bade thee? (Iblis) said: I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire while him Thou didst create of mud.

7:13 (Picktall) He said: Then go down hence! It is not for thee to show pride here, so go forth! Lo! thou art of those degraded.

7:14 (Picktall) He said: Reprieve me till the day when they are raised (from the dead).

iblis was of those reprieved, so there were others who were reprieved.

as the rest of the verse reads, he was reprieved until they were to be risen.

since we know others were reprieved before iblis, do you believe that the reprieve means that devils can stay in paradise and be wicked or that the reprieve has to do with continuing to be allowed to live?

Reading onward we get

7:16 (Picktall) He said : Now, because Thou hast sent me astray, verily I shall lurk in ambush for them on Thy Right Path.

7:17 (Picktall) Then I shall come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right bands and from their left hands, and Thou wilt not find most of them beholden (unto Thee).

7:18 (Picktall) He said: Go forth from hence, degraded, banished. As for such of them as follow thee, surely I will fill hell with all of you.

7:19 (Picktall) And (unto man): O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden and eat from whence ye will, but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers.

7:20 (Picktall) Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: Your Lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.

7:21 (Picktall) And he swore unto them (saying): Lo! I am a sincere adviser unto you.

7:22 (Picktall) Thus did he lead them on with guile. And when they tasted of the tree their shame was manifest to them and they began to hide (by heaping) on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden. And their Lord called them, (saying): Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan is an open enemy to you?

As this is all one continuous verse There is no indication anyone has actually left Paradise yet. Iblis was given his eviction noticed but had not yet left town.

Is Satan a walking being physically seen or is he an invisible being that can't be seen with the eyes?
Good question. But different Christians have different ideas of what Satan is (I can't speak for Muslims). Satan could be a fallen angel, a symbolic creature of our own fleshly desires, or he could be what the book of Job calls him: The Accuser. I don't really know which it could be, but if he is a fallen angel, I believe he would be invisible.

If the angels have fallen did they lose their invisibility since they have fallen.

do you believe the sons of god in the bible were angels?
