Rare Brain Disorder Prevents All Fear

I think this article has been mentioned before on the site, but doesn't this woman demonstrate that fear is not absolutely necessary? What if we had some DNA manipulation to remove our fear? Its been done with mice. Think about it: humanity without any more fear!

As long as we were smart enough to avoid danger, then a lack of fear would be an improvement.
I rather expect that a lot of our decision making process would be eroded if we did not know fear. Fear is a great motivator which is why so many religions use it to the hilt to keep their followers in line.

Oh, so you think there would be no religion without fear?

I dont adhere to religion out of fear. I actually have solid reasons for belief.

Why is that?
Human civilization is only as far as it is because we used fire to get here. We still use fire everyday. Yet fire is dangerous if not respected. Moses said that our God is a consuming Fire.

I am talking about visceral fear -- you know, feelings. I'm not talking about anything spiritual.
I think it is pertinent though. You should be afraid of God on some level. I mean the same way that you're afraid of a judge in a courtroom. God is the Judge. So if humans had no fear at all then would they respect God? These questions arise certainly ...
